NOTE: I no longer maintain or monitor this page. Portions of it are periodically updated by Avvo without my knowledge or approval. It may contain old or inaccurate information (see, e.g., this).
If you arrived at this page by clicking a link (e.g., via another web page, e-mail, etc.), please know that it was likely sent to or displayed for you without my authorization. I do not reference this page in any of my own communications, nor do I advertise or solicit for business.

The reason I no longer update my Avvo profile is primarily because Avvo's rating system can be gamed, and in many ways is designed to be gamed by attorneys who advertise with it. (I do not.) Attorneys who "claim" their profiles, but who do not spend hours of their time maintaining them are likely to have lower ratings than attorneys of comparable skill who do. You should be aware of this when using Avvo ratings in your decision to hire.
Once Avvo profiles are claimed, there is no way for attorneys to "unclaim" them, which means they must forever continue to update them or suffer penalities in their ratings (see, e.g., this).
