Is it a crime to write about somebody on the internet?

It depends on what you write and who they are because most people will not even know about most things you would post, so they would never sue you or file a criminal complaint. But remember just because you know something is true doesn't mean you can prove it to a judge or jury. If you're doing this to make money, then consult an attorney. If you're doing it for fun, you can probably tell yourself if it will lead to trouble or not.
