How long for flsdu to open my account?: My divorce was final on may 4th this year. I was ordered to pay support through the flsdu. So I signed up for e-services and it says there is no support order on file, but it has the case number and other parties name. So how long will it take to enter the support order? I am concerned it won't be open when I have to pay. If there isn't a support order will they still dispuse a payment?
Maurine’s answer: If the SDU still shows no account when it is time to make your payment, try checking with your local clerk of the court they may be able to accept the payment and properly apply it in the mean time.
Do i have to pay child support if i live with my Girlfriend?: We just had a baby and she is receiving benefits form the state i.e Medicaid. If i move in with her do i have to pay child support? If i add my child to my insurance and she stops receiving Medical benefits can they still force child support hearings against her wishes? We are planing on getting married but now afraid to make any moves without know how it will affect benefits, medicaid, food stamp etc.. would it be better to get married early or just move in ? Our little girl was born 5 days ago.
Maurine’s answer: One part of the states representation of your girlfriend for child support is that she has to be a willing participant. The state can ask for you to reimburse the Medicaid costs even after a child support obligation as been paid off. I would seek legal counsel about your rights and obligations.
Will this help my case to prove co-habitation and she is in a supportive relationship? Will this help me to fight alimony?: My wife has been having an affair for more than 8 years and has moved out of the home to live with this person for 1 ½ years now. The divorce papers have been filed over 6 months ago and I have not been asked to or been giving her any support. I have recently been giving a notarized paper with both her name and her boy friend’s name with the same address and home phone number.
Maurine’s answer: Co-habitation and supportive relationships help to lessen the need for alimony, but are more typically argued in a case to modify or stop alimony. I would suggest seeking advice where the attorney can get in to more specifics on your case.
