Raymond’s answer: You would either use the I-864 by itself for one joint sponsor, or the I-864 plus I-864A for two sponsors who are members of the same household. The answer is complex, so you should seek the advice of an attorney to avoid mistakes and delays.

Raymond’s answer: Yes you can travel abroad and return to the U.S., using your passport, expired green card and the I-797 receipt notice for the I-751 petition which extends the validity of your green card for 24 or 48 months.

Do I need to apply for a new DS-160 if I accidentally applied with my old passport?: I wanted to know if I would need to apply for a new DS-160 after I accidentally applied for the DS-160 with my old passport. I have already made a visa interview appointment but I just realized that I have applied for the DS-160 with my old passport.

Would it be possible to apply for a new DS-160 and go to the existing interview appointment with the new DS-160? Or would it be possible to just bring both the new and old passport to the interview appointment without changing anything?

Raymond’s answer: You can submit a new DS-160 as well. After completing a new DS-160, you would log into your account, update the new DS-160 barcode number on your appointment at least three days prior to your appointment date, and print out a new Appointment Confirmation Sheet.
