Do I have a case with my father’s death due to negligence from a hospital?: Father had gout flare up and missed his dialysis appt on the Friday before going to ER on Saturday. During his dialysis there, mother went to the bathroom and when she came back, father’s jaw was clinched tight with eyes staring up at the ceiling and was unresponsive. She called the nurses and doctors there who said he was just sleeping and when they noticed he wasn’t, they slapped him a few times to try to get him out of it. He finally came to. On his way up to the ICU floor, he kept telling the ER nurse that he can’t breathe and he need more oxygen but they told him he isn’t walking up there, they’re wheeling him so he don’t need more oxygen, they’ll give it to him when he reaches icu. He flat lined right when he got out of the elevator door. Doctors went back and forth with his care stating they need to amputate his leg, the infection cleared, new infection arose, not sure how it happened and taking us to the corner of the hallway to discuss his health while other patients and their families were there and heard everything.
Paul’s answer: A lot more information would be needed to make any kind of meaningful response to this account of what happened. However, should someone go from gout to flat line while in a hospital, that should cause the patient and/or his family to seek a consultation with a medical malpractice attorney. Because California has a short and struct statute of limitations, there should be no delay in getting that consultation.
Mediator refuses to give refund even though mediation never happened?:
I was recently involved in a case that has since been resolved. Mediation was an option but j the processes. However under advice from my lawyer we decided to skip mediation, best interest in my case.
I paid the funds for the mediation prior to my lawyer advising to forgo and go straight to final trail. The mediation was canceled 2 weeks in advance. However, the mediator refuses to return funds for a mediation that never happened. Is there a governing body I can contact on this individual?
Paul’s answer: Hiring a mediator is different that retaining (or hiring) a lawyer. A mediator's services are likely set by his or her contract with a party (or the party's lawyer). The amount of fees, when fees are due, and the cancellation policy may be set forth in that contract.
Do I have a malpractice lawsuit against the hospital for negligence?: Had back surgery on March 14,2023. Went in for surgery had my front teeth,woke up and they were gone. Please let me know if I have a case? Thank you

Assuming a patient had a nice full set of natural teeth when he or she went into the operating room, was "put under" and then intubated, and then awoke missing his or her front teeth, one reasonable assumption would be that the person who performed the intubation broke the patient's teeth during the procedure by using the patient's teeth as a fulcrum for the laryngoscope. If this were to be the case, that patient may "have a case for medical malpractice. What should such a person do? That's easy... Most California medical malpractice attorneys offer free initial consultations, so there should be no fear of calling one.
