How do I switch over medical power of attorney to my wife from my sister and mother?: I am presently in remission w/ cancer of the throat. I plan to marry my girlfriend of 15 years. I would rather my wife be the legal party to make decisions for me and my sister be there to help her as my sister is a nurse
Bethany’s answer: Contact an attorney that can draft a new healthcare power of attorney which names your girlfriend/wife as your new POA and revokes your prior POA. You can do this before or after your marriage. It is always good to have an alternate, so you could use this same new document to appoint your sister or your mom as the alternate to your wife.
Can my company end my employment due to a verbal contract?: 7 months ago I submitted a resignation letter from a long standing position. The company agreed to take me on a new role and we verbally discussed the key items I need to achieve to maintain my role but that if I did not it would only be a role for 6 months. I repeatedly asked for a contract with terms but never received one. Today I received a notice my employment would be up the 31st of December due to my verbal agreement for a temporary role and because I resigned 7 months ago. I feel I should receive severance as the verbal agreement was not help up on their end. Also what benefit would I have by sinning the paper they want me to sign? The key performance items we discussed have all been met and my position is not being kept on due to budget constraints. Per my boss.
Bethany’s answer: You would need to consult with an attorney that would review the paper the Company is asking you to sign and advise you on the risks of signing it. It is typical that Companies request employees to sign termination papers. Some of these papers include releases of liability. Because of this, you should consult with an attorney before signing anything you do not understand.
Hi, I am a General Contractor. I entered into a contract to complete a Tenant Improvement project. The plans & specs were not: complete. The problem I have is they refuse to pay, I did not file a pre lien notice and want to know if I still can file a mechanics lien. I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I do have a signed contract and should I just file a lawsuit and let an Attorney handle the whole case. Your advice Please!
Bethany’s answer: You cannot file a lien without the proper 20 day lien notice. You should consult with an attorney as soon as possible to see if you still have time to file you 20 day lien notice.
