What should I do?: My house burned down last year and damaged neighbor's house. My insurance paid for my lost and the case is closed, and then I sold my property. Today, which is 1 year after the fire, I received a claim letter from my neighbor's insurance asking me for my insurance policy. I do not know what to do ? Since I don't own my house no more, can I just give them the name and the policy of the insurance company that insured my house at that time? Thank you

Robert’s answer: Call your insurance company that you had at the time of the fire and let them know about the letter. They will direct you on what to do. Then you just deal directly with your insurance adjuster from there forward.

I want to get my medical money back. Should I sue or how should I approach this? : We went to a Mexican restaurant, and had some tacos, my wife on her first bite, felt something immediately, she got up to go clear her throat in the restroom, but could not, She told me she felt something stuck in her throat, so we went to an ER, because she was panicking, From there we were able to find out that she definitely had an object in her throat, after this we had to go over to the hospital and have them remove the object by surgery endoscopy, which they successfully did.

Robert’s answer: Sounds like you might have a good case. Hopefully, you have the object that was removed. If not, then hopefully the medical records describe the object. It would probably be worth calling and getting a free consultation from an attorney.

I was struck by an enterprise rental vehicle and the driver presented a cancelled personal policy: I was hit by a driver in an enterprise rental car. The driver stopped and stayed during the police report but presented a cancelled policy. Is the car rental company negligent for renting a vehicle to someone with no insurance? The driver appears to have used this expired insurance to rent the car. I have been trying to contact enterprise to solve the problem but they have not been helping.

Robert’s answer: You need to consult with an attorney right away. It’s possible that he had insurance, but just didn’t have the updated insurance card. It’s also possible he purchased insurance through enterprise and didn’t tell you (hoping he could skate by without answering for the accident). You may also have a claim under any auto policy you had if you carried uninsured motorist coverage. You won’t get anywhere doing this yourself. No one will take you seriously. Get a lawyer.
