i have an SSI disability case filed two years ago. As per normal routine, it is often denied, and i require a hearing with a judge. I have now filed a hearing request and am currently in the process of signing a representation agreement with an attorney. What caught my attention is that the representation agreement the attorney sent sent to me it includes charging me transportation fees, medical records, and things like that (regardless of the outcome of my disability case). Isn't this a rare contract? I know that if there is no back pay, there are no fees or expenses at all. Is this a rare contract? I am considering looking for a different attorney for this item.

The matter of expenses, which is what you are asking about, is separate from fees. Expenses are not regulated - that is a matter between attiorney and client. So, while there are no fees in the event of an unfavorable decision, there could be expenses owed to the attorney.
You should definitely get that clarified. Many jurisdictions have reduced medical record costs for SS cases; some do not. Travel expenses could be a parking garage fee - or airline travel if the attorney is out of state. If you attotney will not claarify, then talk to another attorney local to you.

I need information on this problem here to know where I stand: So a month and a half ago two months ago I got diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel in both hands I had surgeries on both hands the first one was by the end of January which I had Blue Cross Blue Shield through my employer that they paid for while I’m out and I have to pay them back once I get back to work so I had no income coming in I use my week vacation pay and so the end of January I filed for Medicaid so I qualified they covered the second survey which is for the February and most the bills from there on but I got a disability check from AFLAC for $8900 and paid all my bills up for four months that I’m out rent Wi-Fi phone bill car insurance and all that stuff so now I’m sitting out that Medicaid didn’t cover January the only covered February so I’m sitting here with $3000 in medical bills after my Blue Cross Blue Shield paid for a portion of the January surgery my question to you is that I am filing for financial assistance to help pay for that $3000 in January that I owe but the financial assistance says that they need three months of my bank records all pages which shows that I had $8900 check cashed Will this get me in trouble with Medicaid and get me denied financial assi
Clifford’s answer: As long as you can show the office where the money went, I doubt you will have problems. You may not be eligible for certain months around that time, but most likely will otherwise be eligible. The problems begin when people try to hide things, so just be honest.

Clifford’s answer: Additionally, some states have organizations that will agree to be representative payee. An attorney who represents social security claimants will not likely volunteer or agree to be a payee for a client because it creates possible conflicts of interest.
