What can I do if my roommate doesn't pay rent during the 90 day eviction moratorium? : This question is based on IF there is no rent freeze or cancellation by NYC by April 1st. There is a 90 day eviction moratorium and I expect as my roommate is unemployed will not pay rent during this time and I cannot cover her share of rent. However, we are both liable for the total and I am concerned about the financial ruin she could cause me. We do not have a written roommate agreement. I can pay my share, but what protections or actions can I take to minimize the impact of her actions on my finances and credit? Will I have sue her?
