How do I serve or file a subpeona without a lawyer?: I lost my attorney and i need to know how to file and serve subpoenas to my witnesses i need for court.

Liron’s answer: I will preface this by stating that the laws in your area are most likely different from those which I practice under. Therefore, I should tell you that I am unfamiliar with those laws.

That said, at least in FL, you will need to prepare the subpoena forms (CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL LAW LIBRARY FOR HELP). You may need to file a Notice of Intent to Serve Subpoena with the Court so as to give notice. Finally, once those documents are prepared, you would need a process server or sherriff to serve teh documents on the witnesses.

I strongly recommend you contact an attorney to discuss this matter in further detail, so as to allow you to get more accurate advice, and to do so without haste. The above is not intended to form a legal relationship and is for informational purposes only rather than legal advice.

What can a lawyer file so that what someone "says in a statement can't be used as evidence against them?": say if you turn state's evidence?

That said, I strongly feel this question would be better stated to an attorney in your area under a client consultation of sorts. The attorney would then have a better chance of getting more details of you situation to answer your specific questions.

That said, at least in FL, you should be able to file a motion for an extension/enlargement of time for which to file a respond. The Rules of Civil Procedure should govern your time restraints, but the Judge may be able to grant you an extension.
