My daughter has a paid attorney paid in full up to trial. how does she fire him ?: Attorney have no clue about the courts and hasn't given my daughter her discovery packets. No communication what so ever. He just got the money and showed up to a few courts just to continue them and that is it! I do plan on hiring a new attorney.

David’s answer: Sorry to hear about the negative experience your daughter is having with her current attorney. The best way to "fire" a current attorney is to hire a new one. That new firm can then notify the current attorney of the prospective change in attorneys.

Your daughter should be entitled to the difference, if any, between what was paid versus what was earned (i.e. agreed upon hourly rate multiplied by the time the attorney/law firm spent on the case).

Does the San Diego County Work Furlough Program give good time credits?: My boyfriend just pleaded guilty to a charge, he was told in his last hearing that the judge was sentencing him to 9 mos in work furlough. He had his screening appointment yesterday and the probation officer he spoke to told him he would qualify for a time reduction in his sentence. Is that even a thing? Does Core Civic in fact give good time credits?

David’s answer: Unless the sentencing judge specified otherwise, your boyfriend should receive good time credits while at work furlough, and may be able to be released after service half of his actual sentence. But he should always double check with work furlough and his attorney, as both should be in a far better position to provide this information.

Can i get bail if im already out on bail?: Have an outstanding dv and evading police case open i go to court in December, i just got another charge over the weekend a warrant has not been issued for my arrest as of now. Same charges this time they found an unloaded gun that does not belong to me.

David’s answer: It's a possibility, although you may also be facing the dreaded "out on bail enhancement," which could add additional prison time to your sentence if convicted.

Best move in the days ahead will be to secure the best, locally experienced, criminal defense law firm you can afford to protect your freedom and future.
