I can't afford attorney but I was denied one : I was arrested in September and I called to see if I was eligible for an attorney, which I was assigned one. My parents got a letter a few days ago saying since I am under 21 and they make enough money to afford one I can't get provided an attorney. Now I have to pay for my lawyer but I can't. What can I do? Should I call the assigned counsel program and explain my situation?
Jose’s answer: The judge should allow you to get an attorney assigned. It's in the judge's best interest so that they can avoid any issues with your plea agreement in the future
Hypothetically.. If I ran a prostitution house and got caught and it was my first offense.. Would I go to jail?: For arguments sake.. Say I ran a prostitution house where the lease was under my name in NYC and it got busted. But it was my first offense and i did not work with any minors would I go to jail? If so for how long? And would they give me less than the max sentence since it was my first offense?
Jose’s answer: It would likely result in jail time
Can I be arrested for "speeding" if my neighbor reports me?:
I live on rather quite neighborhood ,
One morning , I was driving a bit faster then I supposed , one of the neighbors saw this and said that will report me . They said that know where I am living and will make me real problems .
Usually I never drive so fast , I don't have any tickets , and this happened first time in my life , I am worried that I will have problems , because neighbors start yelling on me , and telling that will make problems for me .
Jose’s answer: Don't worry about this. This type of crime needs to be observed by police.
