Divorce outside USA: If I get divorced in my country, will I really lose all my rights here in the United States? I have been married for 10 years, I have children, and I am a U.S. citizen.
Robert’s answer:
If you divorce outside of the US you will not lose any "rights" here in the United States, however,
issues of custody and property division will need to be handled generally in the state where you reside with the children, but more information is needed to determine exactly where you need to file for custody/divide property. You would need to start by filing a Modification of a Foreign Decree . Good Luck.
Court appointment attorney is more like a friend, we've smoked pot he's sent me love songs n poems: On March 4th 2025 DCF and the police showed up at my house and DCF took my daughter because my ex-girlfriend dropped off a mutual friend of ours that I've always known as breezy but his name I guess is Joseph tinkham. I met him at the park next to my house when he had his daughter and my daughter was playing with her. Well my ex-girlfriend got upset because I had a bunch of other people in my house helping me take care of my grandmother who had sundowning a form of Alzheimer's and I have a 8 year old daughter that I was also taking care of. So my ex-girlfriend Alessandra calls the police and reported that I had a lot of people in my house and that one of them was a sex offender. I had no idea but it turns out that he was indeed a unregistered through level 3 sex offender. So they arrested him and then they took my daughter and they've had her ever since. She's been to nine different places. She reported the first one for abusing her so they took her to the doctor where they discovered bruises and she had I think they called it vaginitis I asked the DCF worker what that was she said it's an STI. I googled it cuz my hypochondriac and it said allergi
Robert’s answer: I cannot tell from your message exactly what you need, but you can ask for a change of appointed attorney or retain a new attorney.that new attorney can explain the juvenile court process to you, if DCF took custody in March 2025 I would hurry as the process may be concluded as more than a year has passed.
I was pronounced divorce in Germany. Germany did not divide marital assets nor decide child custody: Both my ex-husband and I reside in MA with our two kids. Because ex is a German national, he applied to for a divorce in Germany. We were pronounced divorced in Germany, but Germany has refused to decide property division and child custody issues. How do I get that taken care of in MA???
Robert’s answer: A Modification of a Foreign Judgment should be filed to address property division and custody natters, You will need a certified copy of the divorce certificate (with a certified translation to file. An attorney should assist you.
