A native of Yakima, WA, Greg Lighty graduated from the University of Washington in 1988 with a degree in Mathematics.  He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Washington School of Law.  He has practiced law in Yakima since 1991.


Greg was named a Rising Star by Washington Law & Politics in 2006. In 2012, Greg earned "AV Rated" by Martindale-Hubbell. Greg is a member of the Washington State Association for Justice, Washington State Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.  Greg is admitted in all Washington courts:  Eastern District of Washington, Western District of Washington, 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and Yakama Nation Tribal Court.  


Greg is the Chairman of both the City of Yakima Charter Civil Service Commission and the Police and Fire Civil Service Commission.  He is a board member for The First Tee of Yakima.  Greg has been coached youth sports, including basketball, baseball, football, and soccer for over 13 years.
