I earned a physics Ph.D. in 1993 from George Washington University and worked in research until 2006. I built nuclear detectors at two government labs, and then transferred to Oregon Health and Science University where I was part of a group designing, building, and testing novel laser-microscope probes to study inner-ear motions. I left research to attend law school, and opened a solo practice in Vancouver in 2010 after receiving my JD from Lewis and Clark.. I accept cases in most non-criminal areas; most of my experience has been in landlord/tenant, family law, guardianship, and contracts.
I have a pretty wide life background that I think adds value to my representation of clients. I have built fences, worked in mills, trained horses, been a hospital radiation safety technician, delivered coffee and doughnuts, taught computer programing in a community college, and managed construction of a detector system with an 80-ton magnet, a complex vacuum system, miles of cables and hundreds of electronics channels, among others.
My philosophy is to find the quickest route to a fair solution. I try to advise my clients on the realities of their situation, agree on an outcome they will be satisfied with, and then work hard to get that result for them.
