About me

I've been practicing family law for more than 18 years.  I represent clients in all aspects of family law including divorce, modifications, child support, paternity action and complex custody matters.  In addition to my family, I also handle family based immigration cases.

Over the last five years, I've had the opportunity and honor to sit as Pro Tem Commissioner at the Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court where I've presided over domestic violence, dissolution and show cause calendars.  I have a BV Distinguished rating from Martindale Hubbell.

I was born in Cuba and grew up on the east coast.  I was raised in a Spanish speaking household and am a fairly fluent Spanish speaker.

I live in Olympia with my partner of nearly 20 years and my two labradors, Maxi and Bosco.

  • Roger B. Madison Jr

Lina is one of the best family law lawyers I know. I practice family law in Thurston County and have had several cases in which Lina has served as opposing counsel. She is smart, ethical, and vigorously advocates for her client. I strongly endorse Lina for anyone seeking family law legal representation!

  • Michael J Edwards

I endorse this lawyer. Lina Beckford is a superb lawyer and since I began working for her she has acted as a mentor of the highest quality. Lina's experience goes beyond what is necessary to get the job done and to the heart of the underlying intent of the law involving issues of domestic relations and families. Lina is able to anticipate with accuracy both the court's response to a given case and opposing counsel's potential arguments. Moreover, Lina shows a real and sincere concern for her client's outcome and well being.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.

  1. Censure
    issued in WA, 2000

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Lina’s comment: “I have been an attorney for eighteen years. I was disciplined by the bar 12 years ago. This was an isolated event and is not representative of my skills, character, expertise or work ethic. My practice is focused on all aspects of family law. I handle adoptions, divorces, modifications, paternity actions and complex custody matters. I frequently sit as Pro Tem Commissioner at the Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court. I have been peer review rated as BV Distinguished by Martindale Hubbell.”
