I used David Marshall 10 years ago. I was charged with a crime and David acted as my defense attorney. We fought my case for more than a year, reaching a plea bargain. Though the outcome was not what we’d hoped, I had no complaint about Mr. Marshall’s representation.
I was always kept informed, invited to attend every hearing, even those that were optional on my part. I was given copies of all written records to review and he was always there to answer any questions. I had plenty as this was the first time I’d ever had any dealings with the court. This diligence was instrumental in correcting several errors in the records.
David had the admirable quality of making me feel as though I were his only client. I never felt rushed or that he was in a hurry to be elsewhere.
I was anxious, depressed and more and David knew the right things to say to get me through it. He was skilled in leading me to more rational thinking.
If I had any complaints, it would be in not being fully informed of the future consequences of the then “new law” I was being charged under. I’m now living with them and wish I’d understood more 10 years ago. Nobody’s perfect, and it is what it is.
David became more than an attorney. We corresponded throughout my prison term and have met again since I got out. I consider him a friend.
He is a skilled litigator (in my opinion) is considerate and calm in what were difficult times.
I would recommend David S. Marshall, whether you’re guilty or not. He’ll work for you.

What makes David stand out from any other attorney is that he's willing to help with little regard to “making money”. He genially cares; of course nothing comes without a cost; but he's always willing to work with the client and will help the best he can. He's self-aware enough to know when he needs help and asks for it. For my case he discovered that another attorney may be best suited for my case and was willing to step down and have me work with that other attorney. Then not only did he maintain contact; but continuously worked with the new attorney and helped justice prevail in what would have been a travesty otherwise. He will always be my first option to recommend in any child related case.

I needed to act fast on my case, when I told David my situation he made time for me immediately. I was founded for negligence/ maltreatment on unsubstantial and misconstrued evidence. David saw things that I did not see and focused on what it would take to get my case reversed. when I got my letter from CPS they noted that one of the main reasons they decided to change the finding to unfounded was because of information David Marshall supplied.

Hired him for a non-parental custody case where I was accused of abuse without merit. Rather than act as a defense attorney and advocate for his client, he went outside his assignment and expertise without my consent. His attempts at settlement were inadequate and he led me on just asking for money on a case where he had clearly decided to comply with adverse party because he was ignorant of the process involved with a custody dispute. He promised me my case would be resolved with the cost being less than $5,000.00. When his charges went past $7,000.00 without any resolve or end in site, the only correspondence sent to me was to ask for more money. When asked if there would be any change in the court's original opinion, he stated "no". Yet he wanted to continue, trying to convince me to move forward to an expensive trial. Essentially my situation was exactly the same as before I hired him, only now I am out thousands of dollars for a deception in representation. It should be noted that I have never had an attorney ask me to travel, all the way to Seattle, for an initial consultation without any prior notice that I would be charged at his full rate. This initial consultation ended up costing me over $1300.00.

Mr. Marshall handled my case excellently. He gave me a timley interview and was straight forward in my case. I presented him the facts of my case (my soon to be ex wife I filed for divorce from making false child abuse allegations) and contacts to talk to. My case was eventually unfounded.

My 5 years old boy said something at his school which caused CPS to force me to cease all contact and communication with him while they performed their investigation. It was a horrific situation because I didn't know the process and what CPS and the police department would do. I just knew that they had a lot of power and that my child can say some of the wildest things just to gain attention. I contacted attorneys from 2 big law firms well known for handling these kind of cases. One was very helpful and kind. The other just seem to want some money and didn't care about me as a worried father. Regardless, both of them didn't seem to possess the knowledge and experience that made me feel comfortable. I contacted David via searching the web and was blown by his expertise and kindness within the first 10 minutes. He was able to quickly and expertly answer all of my questions and concerns. The attorneys from the other 2 law firms had to go back and ask their colleagues on a couple of complex questions I had. David knew the ins and outs of the process, the important parties involved, and the reasons behind what needed to be done. Needless to say, I decided to hire David on the spot and so thankful that I hired him. My matter was resolve soon after. Thank you David, again, for being such a great person and attorney.

A little over a year ago I had a horrible (and untrue) allegation made against me. It was easily one of the scariest ordeals of my life. I hired David to help me better understand the situation I was in, the options that were available to me, and the best course of action I should take. My anxiety and fear was through the roof but having David there to answer my questions and advise me on how to proceed helped tremendously. I would certainly recommend David to anyone in a similar situation. He was always easy to get ahold of and I never felt rushed when asking him my many questions. Fortunately, my situation resolved itself in about the best way possible and I will forever be grateful for the assistance and expertise that David provided.

I needed an attorney in a very short notice and I had only 2 days to find someone. It was a weekend and I searched the web. David was my first choice and I had contacted him. Within few hours, he replied to me and we had our first interview over the phone. He was willing to consult with me on Monday and after several hours of brainstorming, he was ready with our action. Everything was in place by Tuesday morning, at our hearing. Amazingly efficient service! David was extremely professional and knowledgable. Anything he was not familiar with, he researched it immediately and it was ready for us, the next day. I would work with him again, anytime, any occasion.

I was referred to David Marshall by our family attorney. I have very serious pending criminal charges involving assault on children. My first contact with David came through a phone call with his assistant Tracy McDonald. Her calm and reassuring manner helped calm my anxiety and she immediately put me at ease and assured me that I had come to the right place. She scheduled a timely meeting with David to discuss my dilemma.
My initial meeting with David reassured me that I had made the right choice of counsel. I could tell immediately that he was a caring person with the experience and personality that I needed. He was warm, friendly, reassuring and made me comfortable even while talking about my dire circumstances; however, he was straight forward in not sugar coating its seriousness. David was most likely a boy scout, as his character appears flawless. I have found him trustworthy, dependable, patient and knowledgeable. At my bond hearing he saved me about $10,000 dollars. Judges respect him and listen to his arguments. He is careful on how he spends my money and does not spend time doing things that he does not feel are necessary.
Because David has been in this business for quite some time, he has a lot of friends and other lawyers to call upon if the need arises. In my case he partnered with Raymond McFarland, another criminal lawyer with years of experience working in the Prosecutor’s office and is well respected in the courthouse. His friendly demeanor and connections have won him the respect of the prosecutor and other staff; therefore he is able to negotiate and get things done that one would not think were possible. Ray is of excellent character and has great knowledge from many years of practical experience. Ray and David work well together and I am sure I got the best possible advice and c consideration. I often refer to “the team” of David, Ray and Tracy as my Dynamic trio. If you have a serious criminal case you cannot go wrong by giving them a call and risking an hour or so to see what I say is true.

Long time ago, I asked David to defend me when I was falsely accused of assault. The case was dismissed. Last year, to my dismay, I discovered a harmful change in my records. David and his longtime paralegal Tracey were able to find the source of the problem, a court error, and to resolve it expediently. It means a lot to me.
I had chosen David as my lawyer because I knew and trusted him.
Starting 1987 and for many years in a row, he had participated in the French classes I was teaching. His joie de vivre, learning enthusiasm, humor and vivaciousness as well as his caring attitude towards fellow students were quite enjoyable. I have always been struck by his wholehearted dedication to his work, his keen interest in other cultures, his respect and generosity towards other beings.
I highly respect David for his (rare) moral values, integrity, crystal clear mind, thoroughness and responsiveness.
As a team, David S. Marshall and Tracey McDonald reflect and feed each other’s professional excellence. They are a pleasure to work with.
