About Me

Cynthia provides litigation and appellate services.  Recent experience includes representation of appellant in a civil rights action to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and representation of appellant to the Washington State Supreme Court.  Also, served as counsel for plaintiff in action for sexual discrimination and retaliation; obtained favorable settlement of claims for plaintiff one week before trial.  Services for criminal and civil appellants inlcude drafting and arguing appeals at the Washington Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court.  Recent experience includes representing indigent criminal appellants for Nielsen, Broman & Koch PLLC through a contract awarded to it by the State of Washington, and filing an amicus brief in the Washington State Supreme Court on behalf of the ACLU of Washington in an education funding case.  Trial experience includes sole trial counsel for plaintiff in a 4 day jury trial in action for partition and fraud, won unanimous jury verdict on fraud claim and award of damages on both claims; second chair for plaintiff in 5-week bench trial in an action to establish existence of meretricious relationship and for distribution of property incident to dissolution of the relationship, won multi-million dollar award of damages and real property.  Litigation experience includes all phases of discovery, including discovery motions, taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses, plus preparation for and participation in several successful mediations.  Cynthia is a former law clerk to Justice Charles W. Johnson of the Washington State Supreme Court.  During law school, Cynthia externed in Governor Christine Gregoire's office, and in chambers of Judge Mary Yu in King County Superior Court.  Cynthia also interned at the ACLU of Washington and served as president for the Women's Law Caucus.
