Annette Messitt is an experienced Washington attorney admitted to the Washington bar in 2002.
Annette clerked for the honorable Susan R. Agid at the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division One from 2002 to 2004.
After leaving the court, she practiced as a land use associate attorney at Buck & Gordon, LLP. While at Buck & Gordon, Annette second-chaired her first trial, Bauman v. Turpen, 139 Wn.App. 78, 160 P.3d 1050 (2007), which was later named one of the Cases of the Year in Washington Law and Politics magazine.
In 2005, Annette left private practice to serve as a King County Deputy Prosecutor. While in the Special Drug, Filing, Domestic Violence, and Violent Crimes Units of the criminal division, Annette was the lead prosecutor in more than 20 felony jury trials. She experienced criminal hearings of every type, including but not limited to arraignments, first appearances, bond hearings, case setting, motions, readiness, sentencing, post sentencing hearings, review hearings, and probation violations.
In 2009, Annette reentered private practice as an employment litigator at a small plaintiff's firm, Breskin, Johnson, and Townsend, PLLC. She counseled employees on employment law matters and participated in nearly every aspect of civil litigation, including but not limited to discovery, depositions, motions practice, trial, and appellate practice.
Annette started her own freelance attorney practice in 2013 so she could work as a part-time attorney, while also taking care of family obligations.
Annette currently serves as a Pro Tem judge in Edmonds and Bothell Municipal Courts.

Annette and I previously worked together as judicial clerks at the Washington State Court of Appeals. Since then I have been continually impressed by her amazing poise, wisdom, and strong legal mind. I recommend her without reservation.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I spent several years working alongside Annette on various civil litigation matters. I endorse her as a well-rounded, analytical and thoughtful attorney who is able to balance both the needs and best interest of her clients with a strong supporting analysis of the strengths (and weaknesses) of a case when formulating strategy. Because of this, she gives direct and practical advice to her clients, and is an attorney who has earned tremendous respect from her peers.
