We hired Melissa Carter and Richard Adler after evaluating others. They had the best reputation and this was validated while working with Mr. Adler and Mrs. Carter.
They were very considerate in handling inherent sensitivity of our injury related case. What struck me as particularly admirable was their consideration of our relationship with the defendant. The valuation of permanent personal injuries is not, and will never, be an accurate science, but with their help the case was resolved to our satisfaction and for a reasonably fair value, all while maintaining a firm but never malicious attitude toward the defendant. Perhaps most importantly, the conclusion of the case not only left us with a monetary compensation, but also with a renewed certainty that future injuries of this sort will not occur and that perhaps, we had made a difference. They stress accountability and, at least in my opinion, justice.

A year after the car I was driving was hit on the driver’s side by a driver that ran a red light while using his cell phone, I was told by many physicians and friends that I needed to hire an attorney. Though I was reluctant, because I really didn’t want this case to get “complicated” (I naively thought that because the “other guy” was entirely at fault there would not be an issue with his insurance company paying my medical bills.), I finally called Adler and Giersch for help. I am so grateful that I did. I have never regretted that decision for a moment.
Melissa Carter took over my case part way through the process and immediately made me feel that I was in good hands. She is a good listener, intelligent, insightful, attentive to details, compassionate and a wonderful conversationalist. I felt at ease with her from the beginning, because she is a great combination of self-assured and knowledgeable, but is also warm and accessible. If I had questions, Melissa answered them patiently and immediately. I felt very well informed through the entire process.
I sustained several injuries that took me to many medical specialists for help in my healing. Melissa made appointments with most all of my doctors to interview them about the details of my injuries and their suggestions for my recovery. I saw the follow-up letters and notes she wrote after those interviews. They were clear, to the point, and powerfully supported with evidence. I know, at the end of the negotiations with the “other side’s” insurance company, they complimented her on how utterly thorough she was in her reports. Because I was, of course, so intimately involved with my own healing and the details of my case, every time I read her reports, I expected to find something to add, but I never did (and I am a very detail oriented person). All of this work took a tremendous amount of time and dedication.
Karla Keele the Paralegal that worked on my case was amazing in her organization of all of the details of my case--keeping track of medical bills, dates, names and critical correspondence. She must be on line 24/7, because if I had a question for her, she answered nearly immediately every time. I appreciated her professional ism and attentiveness.
In the end, I had a great outcome to my case. I would suggest Adler Giersch and Melissa Carter to anyone dealing with a person injury case. This is a truly remarkable team of well informed, powerful people and community-oriented attorneys.

Melissa was new to the Adler-Geirsch Company and was a defense attorney when she took on our case. I was apprehensive at first, but it turned out that her defense background has been good in helping us with our case. They made sure that we have all our bases covered. They interviewed all key people that pertained to our case. She even drove down to where the accident happened.

I should mention that her Paralegal at that time Karla Keele has been very polite, and very accommodating to our request, and kept us all abreast with what is happening.

After losing my 17-year-old daughter in a DUI accident (April 2010) it became very apparent that she would need a voice. I was very fortunate to have been introduced to the law firm of Adler Giersch. Melissa Carter was one of the attorneys who spoke for my daughter.
My daughter had been the passenger and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver had been thrown from his seat to the rear of the vehicle and was, for the most part, unhurt. After denying that anyone was with him repeatedly and stating that he was not driving he was taken to hospital. Two hours later a County Sheriff came across my daughter's body. When the driver was asked who she was he denied knowing her. As soon as he was informed she had not made it he started to point the finger at her and say that she was driving. My daughter did not drive.
Melissa gave my daughter a voice. Melissa worked with the prosecuting attorney and the sheriff's office to bring the driver to justice and prove that my daughter was not driving. Melissa gave her a loud voice that shouted in no uncertain terms that justice would prevail. And it did.
I wanted the young man who had been driving to be held accountable - and he was.
I wanted the owner of the home who allowed minors to party to be held accountable - and he was.
I was never alone in court. There was always one, two, or three attorneys from Adler Giersch present.
If you are in need of a compassionate attorney who knows the law you cannot go past Melissa Carter. If Melissa said she was going to call, she called. If I called on weekends she either answered her phone or called right back. I cannot speak highly enough of Melissa Carter or the other attorneys and staff members of Adler Giersch.
They were able to get a settlement for my daughter without going back into court. After the settlement came through as I was worried about wasting the settlement they recommended I get in touch with an investment firm.
Nothing will ever bring back my daughter nor take away the pain but knowing the people responsible have been made accountable gives some solice.
Melissa was kind and compassionate all through the horrible ordeal. She always kept me informed of every little aspect and was very patient explaining things that I did not understand. Melissa was always available and willing to listen to me vent.

Melissa Carter took over my daughter's case after 4 years of going around and around with the insurance companies. She had a clear view of the case and was determined to see it through to a satisfactory end for my daughter, which she did in a matter of a few short months. I was involved in a very unpleasant real estate eviction case. I had hired the most expensive, highly recommended lawyers I could find. My tenants had as their lawyer, someone who did not play by the rules and used every means possible to muddy up the case and prolong the entire proceedings. We were getting nowhere fast and the bills were quickly mounting into the six figures. In the middle of it all, Melissa was assigned to the case through my insurance company. Once she was on board, I made the decision to let the other lawyers go and let her handle the case from that point. Her self assured manner and ability to cut right to the heart of the matter with intelligence and insight gave me a much needed shot of confidence. I finally felt that I was in very good hands. She always kept me informed on important details and was very open to listening to any ideas I might have had that would prove beneficial to the case. She treated me with respect and kindness and I really appreciated her explaining the many things I didn't understand into lay man's terms. We eventually did go to trial, and she performed with confidence (and zeal!) and did not miss a beat. She was ready with an answer to anything they threw at her. After the trial was over (we won!) the judge actually congratulated her on her handling of the case and being able to work with the other lawyer who was probably the most unprofessional and devious person either of them had encountered in their years, all without lowering herself to his level.
If I ever find myself in need of a lawyer again, I would not hesitate to hire Melissa.
