About Me

I love to help people grow their businesses and real estate enterprises. No matter how big or how small, each client is important to me.

My dad was an entreprenuer and an investor, so I have been around business owners my whole life. I would be delighted to listen to your plans and see if I can be of service.

ROBERT S. KLEIN is a partner at Short Cressman & Burgess.  He co-chairs the firm's Business Practice Group.

In his 33 years of practicing law, Mr. Klein has acquired broad experience in litigation, business and real estate. His current practice focuses primarily on representing business owners and real estate developers, lenders and contractors. Mr. Klein also assists clients with planning their long-term business strategies and negotiating business transactions; structuring and documenting corporations, joint ventures, partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, tenancies in common, and trusts; negotiating, drafting and reviewing business contracts and financing; and negotiating the purchase and sale of assets, services and businesses.

Mr. Klein's business and intellectual property experience is extensive, including negotiating and documenting spin-offs, licensing and manufacturing agreements, international sales, development contracts for start-up software firms, non-compete agreements, acquisitions, mergers, shareholders' agreements, marketing agreements, formation of LLCs, stock option agreements, and more.

In complex commercial and residential real estate transactions and planning, Mr. Klein deals with purchases and sales, title and title insurance questions, tax-deferred exchanges, reorganizations, financing, refinancing, loans, loan workouts, foreclosures, landlord and tenant matters, leases, permits, design, construction, and land use planning. His real estate dealings have included retail/office centers, office buildings, commercial land development projects, residential plats, apartment buildings, restaurants, service stations, road improvements, and hotels.
