About Me

Heather M. Morado focuses her practice on entertainment, intellectual property, and general business matters.  As a former professional violinist, Heather brings a unique perspective to her law practice.  As a result, she often employs a right and left-brained approach in developing pragmatic, creative, and business-focused solutions for clients.

Heather has received the "Clients' Choice" award from Avvo, Inc., as a result of her clients consistently rating her knowledge, responsiveness, and trustworthiness at the highest rating.  Heather has also been named a "Rising Star" by Washington Superlawyers, a rating service for attorneys that have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.  The Rising Star list is limited to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Washington state.  Most recently, Heather was named by Billboard magazine to a list of the top 50 attorneys nationwide available to those professionals in the music, media, and entertainment industries.

Heather's entertainment industry clients include screenwriters, producers, directors, talent, production companies, authors, book publishers, toy and game companies, fashion designers, photographers, recording artists, personal managers, composers, record labels, and music publishers.  Heather also counsels a diverse array of both emerging and established companies with regard to copyright, trademark, and general business matters.

Heather is a cum laude graduate of Seattle University School of Law, where she was named a Dean’s Scholar.  Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Puget Sound, earned under a full scholarship on the basis of musical and academic merit.  Heather is a member of the Washington State Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.  She is a member of the American Bar Association entertainment and sports law section, the Pacific Northwest chapter of the Recording Academy, and she serves on the Board of Directors of the Vespertine Opera Theater.  In her spare time, Heather teaches a small studio of violin and piano students, and authors an entertainment and intellectual property law blog at seattleentertainmentlawyer.com.

I endorse Heather for her unique approach as an entertainment lawyer. As a musician herself, Heather truly appreciates the talents of her clients and strives with conviction and vigor to help them achieve their professional goals. While she was in law school, Heather was pointed out to me by one of her professors as one of the most promising students learning intellectual property and licensing. Since then, I've followed Heather's career with interest and enjoyment. (Plus, Heather and I agree that Jascha Heifetz was one of the greatest musicians of all time.)
