Videos & PhotosAbout meI am an attorney at Linville Law Firm PLLC. We’re a close-knit group and regularly consult with one another on our cases. We specialize in construction and real estate law. I represent general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, material suppliers and owners. Part of my practice is helping my clients avoid lawsuits by using the right contract. The other half of my practice involves construction litigation. I regularly present seminars on contract drafting and construction liens. --- I am making good use of my formal education and work experience. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at the University of Washington in 1997. You often hear people talk about the "most economical way" of doing some task or the "most economical way" of accomplishing some objective. What they are really saying is that there's a certain problem or goal at hand and a solution or plan needs to be thought through. How do we most efficiently move from point A to point B? Is the solution to a problem less complex than the problem itself? Is the prize worth the pursuit? How do the parts of the matter interrelate, and how do they advance or detract from the whole? That's economics. Economics also involves considerations of what's practical, what will or can likely succeed, what is efficient, and what is cost effective. My law degree from the University of Washington (2000) helped me develop logic and reason. A capability to see and acknowledge legal as well as practical issues, develop a receptivity to perceive and evaluate all sides of an issue, and advise clients of practical options for resolving those issues.
After law school at the University of Washington, I earned my LL.M. in Taxation (2001) from New York University. Almost all business transactions involve tax consequences. I work for contractors, design professionals, and persons owning their own business. There are deals to be made and deals to be avoided. Economics and law and tax consequences create options, issues, and challenges. My education helps me help the client to the best choices, positions, or options, whether through negotiation with other parties or their lawyers, mediation, arbitration, courtroom litigation, or public agency hearings. There's not too much in the business world, particularly construction or real estate, that does not involve the combination of economics, law, and tax issues.
Our firm teaches many seminars throughout each year. I am certified as an approved real estate instructor by the Director of the Washington State Department of Licensing pursuant to RCW 18.85.040. So are Sage, Christian and Larry. I enjoy teaching the lien and contracts seminars. |
