  • Chat can i do if police impounded my car illegally Can I get help waiving fees?

my daughter was driving alone and has no licence. she is 18 but does have an out dated permit. the law states the police can impound if the person driving has NEVER been given a valid drivers licence OR permit. I am going to a hearing to get the c...

    Jon’s Answer

I'm sorry this happened. You should contact an attorney in Arizona to see if you have any recourse and whether the impound was as improper as you state. While you may be correct about the law, there are often other grounds that the police have for impounding vehicles, any of which could apply to the vehicle your daughter was driving. An attorney experienced in dealing with traffic offenses in Arizona should be able to help get you on the right path.

  • My license got suspended i missed my courtdate dates got confused.

Never had a license got my permit is their anyway to get that cleared.

    Jon’s Answer

In most places it doesn't matter that you are not licensed - the suspension if for your driving privilege and not just a license or permit. It means you can't get a license until your status is cleared.

You should contact an attorney in Alabama to see what the consequences are of your having missed court. You can also call the clerk of the court to see if there's any way to get another court date. You'll want to take care of your missed court date and any outstanding fines and warrants so that you can get licensed.

    Jon’s Answer

The license expires and is no longer valid. That doesn't mean the license is suspended; rather, it means that the license is not valid. It can be valid if the driver pays the fee. States are allowed to set laws for issuing licenses of all kind, including fishing licenses, hunting licenses, driver's licenses, and medical licenses.

You'd have to try to get a hearing with the court to see if the fine can be pulled back and reduced. Collections is holding a judgment against you, and collections can't change the judgment, only courts can.

  • Is location of worker present in a construction zone relevant?

I recieved a speeding citation in a construction zone "with workers present". When I asked the officer where the workers were, he stated there were two at the beginning of the construction site (3.5 miles away in the direction I was headed). When...

    Jon’s Answer

If someone's in a zone, you would want to know where that zone begins and where it ends, whether it's a construction zone, emergency zone, school zone, or drug-free zone. Before any of this sticks, you'd want to know that you were in the zone while you were speeding and that there were workers in the zone. Nevertheless, you shouldn't try to handle this on your own. Look for an attorney experienced in speeding tickets in Arizona for help.
