Scott Crispin Greco Blankenship

Scott practices primarily in the areas of employment discrimination and wage/hour litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, class actions, and complex civil litigation. Scott established The Blankenship Law Firm in 1993, and is dedicated to achieving the best and most efficient results for his clients through aggressive, thorough and ethical representation. He believes that no person, government, or corporate entity is beyond the reach of the law. He is committed to seeing that our court system protect, preserve, and further fundamental rights not only for his clients, but also for our nation and community.

He was named by Washington Law & Politics magazine, as a “Rising Star” attorney, 2000-2002 and a “Super Lawyer,” 2003-2008. In the June 2008 edition of Washington CEO Magazine, Scott is featured as one of the top ten Employment/Labor Lawyers in Washington State. In 2007, Scott was also selected as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers for the state of Washington. He has received an AV rating, the highest rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s National Law Directory.* Scott is a frequent lecturer at legal seminars and has contributed to several legal publications, and is a National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Instructor, teaching lawyers trial skills.

Recent case outcomes include:

• Zhang v. American Gem Seafoods, $3,963,033 judgment for race/national origin discrimination which was upheld on all counts by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in August 2003 (the U.S. Supreme Court declined review in March 2004). According to Jury Verdicts Northwest, this verdict was the largest individual race discrimination verdict in the history of the Northwest;
• Wrongful discharge, breech of partnership, and trade secrets, $1,650,000, 2008;
• Wage/hour, breach of contract, $1,925,000, 2006;
• Sharma v. City of Vancouver, et al., race discrimination, $1,650,000, 2008. According to Jury Verdicts Northwest, this verdict was the largest individual employment discrimination verdict (retaliation, wrongful discharge) in the history of the Northwest;
• Byrne v. Washington State University, judgment, sex discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation and constructive discharge, $250,000 and grant of tenure, 2007;
• Race discrimination, retaliation, discriminatory hiring, $1,625,000, 2006;
• Whistleblowing and disability discrimination, $835,000, 2007;
• G.S. v. Seattle Children's Home, negligent supervision and sexual assault, $600,000, 2007;
• Sexual harassment, gender discrimination, retaliation, $300,000, 2006;
• Automobile Accident, $600,000, 2005;
• Sexual harrassment/retaliation against car dealership, $575,000 settlement, 2005;
• Disability/FLSA retaliation, $600,000 settlement, 2002;
• Wage/hour withholding of wages, $550,000 settlement, 2003;
• Sersen v. Foss Home, $475,000 settlement for nursing home abuse/negligence, 2003;
• Sexual harassment/retaliation cases Hottle v. Seattle Police Department, $225,000, February 2003, and Giezentanner v. U.S. Navy, $200,000, February 2002;
• Delivery driver wage/hour class action settlement, $650,000, 2004.

Prior to practicing in Washington State, Scott served with the United States Senate Judiciary Committee Investigator Counsel, charged with oversight of an EEOC investigation of race discrimination within the FBI. Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California Los Angeles, graduating with the distinction of Chancellor’s Marshal. He went on to study law at Cambridge University in England, and earned his law degree from Tulane University Law School, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal.

Scott is admitted to practice in Washington and Oregon, U.S. District Court, Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, U.S. District Court of Oregon, and U.S. District Court, Northern District of California; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and the U.S. Supreme Court. Scott is a member of the bar for the United States Supreme Court; King County, Washington State and American Bar Associations; Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (Eagle Member); National Employment Lawyers Association; Washington Employment Lawyers Association; and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
