About Me


Sands McKinley is a founding partner of McKinley Irvin, one of the largest family law firms in the Pacific Northwest. He graduated with his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. Sands is now in a full-time management position at the firm, but prior to this he had represented clients in more than 200 contested family law cases. Outside of the family law arena, he also has experience with business planning, formation, contracts and litigation cases. Sands is also the author of various editorials and contributions to publications on various topics related to family law. Sands founded McKinley Irvin with a commitment to excellence, something that has characterized the firm for over 20 years now. McKinley Irvin’s motto is: “Be more professional, be more prepared, be more fearless, and always negotiate from a position of strength.” Sands has played a large role in ensuring each of the firm’s attorneys emulates this.
