About me

While a good sentencing result is often called a "win," to me a win is when the client walks away with no conviction, not just a good sentence.

I try federal cases.

I've actually gotten "not guilty" verdicts in federal criminal trials. I've actually gotten drugs, guns and confessions suppressed and cases dismissed in federal court.

I've recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in forfeitures. I've recovered client's homes and their real estate in federal court.

I've testified as an expert on effective assistance of counsel in federal court.

I've won appeals in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Florida Supreme Court and the Washington Supreme Court.

  • Kirk Charles Davis

Bob Leen is a fantastic attorney. I got to know Bob when I was a prosecutor. I always worked extra hard on his cases because I knew he was going to find every possible way to help his client and he always did. I appreciated his hard work and his creativity so much that when I opened my own practice I sought him out for advice. Indeed, I continue to seek advice from Bob because he is so knowledgeable. I could not give a lawyer higher recommendation.

Bob looks much more distinguished in person than the photo he's posted. And he is, despite the ridiculously contrived and absurd Avvo rating, among the top 3-4 criminal defense lawyers in Western Washington. If you were to ask his fellow attorneys or his clients, they'd tell you that. Bob's excellent results in both state and federal court are reknown to those of us who work with him in the criminal justice system. He has probably forgotten more about criminal trial work than I will ever know, and I've been around this business for 18 years now. Please, do NOT consider this referral "rating" system when you consider hiring Bob Leen to represent you. You can't evaluate a fine criminal defense lawyer like Bob with "points"; it's a disservice to the public and a disservice to Bob. I've referred many clients I personally could not help to Bob Leen and will continue to do so. And if I were ever charged with a serious crime, Bob is one of the few attorneys I'd consider hiring to represent me.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority.

  1. Public Reprimand
    issued in FL, 2005

    updated

Public reprimand means the attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Bar warns the lawyer in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

Robert’s comment: “I take full responsibility for my mistake. The event that led to this reprimand occurred in 1995.”

  2. Review Panel Reprimand
    issued in GA, 2005

    updated

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the pubic in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

    Robert’s comment: “See above.”
