I hired Scott last October to advise on a case that I and Mr. Leist thought would never come to light. Unfortuantely the wheels of justice reared its head and I was acussed of 4th Degree Misdemeaner Assault. After the initial shock, I contacted Scott to discuss our strategy and options. During our intial meeting, Scott liked our chances and thought the best course of action was to be agressive from the start. In otherwords, set this case for trial at our first court. I felt confident with Scott's reccomendation, based on his previous experience as a DA and Seattle Policemen. It was our intention to get this matter resolved as quickly as possible, however due to scheduling conflicts on my side, the length of time to resolve this case drew out til Feb 2012.
After a motions hearing which we won , Scott was adamant the prosecuter did not have a case and that the most likely outcome was dismissal at our readiness hearing. I got a ticket for unable to stop at stop sign even though I was not at fault . It would have impacted my insurance in long term considering I was having less than a year of driving History in WA. Scott was able to dismiss an unfair ticket with five citations that my husband received while long-distance commuting to work. Mr. Leist has represented me on a couple of traffic related issues and a dui (3rd in 5 years). On the traffic ones, I never had to show up and they just disappeared (dismissed) within a few months of hiring him. On the DUI where I was potentially looking at a year in Jail, his expertise, intelligence, knowledge and know how and know who from his previous stint as a police officer and King County prosecutor somehow got me off the hook with just couple weeks of work release. Beyond that, the guy is very professional but friendly and down to earth. I was very comfortable the whole time and his fees are very reasonable. Also, I should mention that he came recommended to me via another attorney - Mr. Stephen Hayne - the guy who wrote the book on DUI in Washington State. Trust me folks - for a guy with multiple DUI and other offenses (unfortunately), I highly recommend Mr. Liest. There isnt better value for money out there.

Straightforward and to the point representation. I was unjustly cited for failure to come to a complete halt at a stop sign, but Scott recognized some legal irregularities with the ticket. He was able to persuade the prosecutor to drop the charges (it didn't hurt that I had an otherwise flawless driving record).

I've known Scott for several years but this is the first time he's helped me as an attorney. I received my first speeding ticket in 25 years and didn't know what to do. Let me begin by stating I am a lawyer. I was referred to Scott by a lawyer friend of mine. So, Scott is well-regarded by his colleagues! I thought my speeding ticket case was a loser, but Scott came up with creative ways to fight it. He called me from Court, explained the pros and cons and was honest and insightful. Very detailed, and worked hard to get my cases reversed. I had paid off 2 out of three of my seeding tickets, and he was able to get them appealed and then reversed and taken off my record. Two traffic violations one large fine and the other I guess you could be call standerd size. Got the big fine ticket complety dismissed, the smaller one reduced to a non insurance violation. The end result is that I ended up with no violation on my commerical license.

Scott went above and beyond what I expected in an attorney. I met with 3 other attorney's specializing in DUI's and after our first meeting and he made me feel like he cared about me and my case unlike the others. He was open and honest about every step in the process so I knew what to expect. I rear ended some guy and got a "driving to close" ticket. Given my less then perfect driving history and a previously deferred ticket (moving violation), I thought I was toast. For many reasons, I really needed this ticket "fixed". I was pleasantly shocked to have my ticket reduced to a non-moving violation. Could not have been happier with the result. I was involved in a 3 car collsion in January 2011; all 3 vehicles were totaled; no one was injured; there were no witnesses - even the 3 drivers stated they did not see the events leading up to the collsion. Several days after the collsion, I received a citation in the mail; I obtained a copy of the police collision report, which contained significant errors - the collision could not have happened the way the report stated as evidenced by the location and severity of the damage to the 3 vehicles and the direction of spin imposed on my vehicle. I called Scott Leist and, even before I retained him, he gave me advice on how to repond to the citation and he provided me with detailed information on what to do and expect before a hearing and what to expect during a hearing. I retained Mr. Leist for a flat fee, which eased my mind considerably - not knowing how this case could escalate. My case was dismissed in Municipal Court. I believe one of the other drivers was eventually cited for the collsion.

I received a DUI in 2008, jumped through all the hoops and paid my dues. Due to my not understanding all of the requirements of reinstating my license I was pulled over in 2010 (DWLS3) this in its own was worrisome, but Scott had it resolved no problem... the bigger concern was that it reopened the sentencing of my DUI from 3 years prior. There were "mandatory" sentencing requirements of 30 days in jail/ house arrest for violating the terms of the original DUI sentence. Long story short, Scott took the time to put my fears at rest, walked me through all possible scenarios and then put on a true display of his knowledge and expertise in navigating a trial. I was facing a manditory 30 days of confinement; I walked out with a $200 fine. Facing the reality of 30 days (which if in actual jail would have cost me my career and derailed my life for the foreseeable future) there could not have possibly been a better outcome. I walked out of the courtroom and paid a $200 fine no jail, no house arrest, nothing. Scott, I owe you more than you know! Let me first say I really don't like lawyers. Previous lawyers seemed only to care about getting paid, and would charge large blocks of time for every little thing that was done. And I hate to say, but I think sometimes I was given poor advice to pursue an issue so that the atty would have a client when it was actually against my best interest. In contrast, Atty Leist seemed very honest and fair. The total payment for services was less than half of what I paid for a traffic ticket ten years ago (I actually felt a little guilty). And with his past tenure as a police officer and prosecutor (difficult, thankless jobs), the least I could do in repayment was to use his services for resolving a recent traffic ticket. I recommend him without reservation.
