During the last year I have utilized the legal expertise of Eden Toner for consultation and preparation of a financial power of attorney. My situation was somewhat complicated and I needed an experienced and thorough attorney to understand and address my needs. Her personal attention was exceptional and reflects a genuine concern for her clients.
I found Mrs. Toner to be capable and direct in answering my numerous questions, as well as obtaining related sources to assist me in senior issues.
She is obviously well schooled with 25 years of experience in practice, as pertains to powers of attorney, trusts, and issues of probate. This enabled her to develop documents that were precise to meet my particular situation.
Recently again engaged the services of Mrs. Toner to prepare a PA for healthcare and accompanying physicians directive. I was extremely impressed with her knowledge of the many qualifiers and issues she addressed in both documents.
In this era, there are many factors involved in healthcare decisions. Her experience has given her a broad scope of alternatives for the principal, like myself, to consider. She was patient while I thought through the alternatives and then moved forward with a document to reflect my personal choices.
Most certainly I have recommended her to other newcomers to the Seattle area and if needed would use her services for consultation again.
She advised my sisters and me on the establishment of a trust for my disabled mother. She prepared the trust instrument, transferred real and personal property into it, drafted Mom's will, and then promptly and sensitively helped me figure what steps I needed to take when Mom died. She is smart, honest, responsive and pleasant to work with. I recommend her without reservation.
Eden Toner was a great help for my Godmother/best friend who needed someone to come to her home after her spinal fractures and an eventual cancer diagnosis. She was professional, intelligent, caring and personable. She assisted with the healthcare directives, wills and a trust advising both my Godmother and my husband and myself on choices and recommendations. Eden continued to keep in close contact during my Godmother's decline of health and a fall and all the subsequent research and relocation we had to do from the hospital to skilled nursing to assisted living. She was informative and supportive in my role as Durable Power of Attorney and helped me navigate that position. At times I was completely overwhelmed with the physical and mental aspects of care-giving and the emotional confrontation of losing a loved one. Eden was there for support. She has the professional and personal experience to sense the nuances of a situation. She broached the difficult situations-- legal, health and financial conversations-- with all of us in a succinct manner with follow-up inquiries, assisting us in bringing those issues to the forefront for solutions. Eden visited my Godmother several times at these various places, sometimes just to check in on her which my Godmother immensely enjoyed. Though there are still many legal issues I do not understand Eden has greatly increased my knowledge. I highly recommend Eden as an attorney for end-of-life issues.
My husband suffered a paralyzing stoke that placed him in a long term care facility. Medicare helped to cover his medical and care expenses for a maximum of 100 days from the date of his stroke. Fortunately a friend highly recommended Eden Toner to legally advise and offer options to organize my financial estate so that an application could be submitted for Medicaid benefits after the Medicare funds expired. Eden willingly made visits to my home and scheduled meetings so as not to conflict with the time I spent with my husband. She was professional and eager to answer the may questions I faced in a totally unfamiliar financial and legal situation. Eden clearly explained my choice of options verbally and in written form. Time was of the essence to liquidate my assets and purchase annuities to satisfy Medicaid qualifications. Eden recommended a financial firm and adviser with whom both Eden and I worked closely to meet required deadlines and medicaid requirements. Eden revised our Living Will, established a Revocation of Community Agreement, and recorded a Quit Claim Deed. We worked together assembling the necessary documentation for the Medicaid application. We were in constant communication through emails, phone, and correspondence. Eden's statement of services was a detailed accounting of her time, services, and rates.
My husband passed away a few days after the Medicare 100 day limitation. Eden cancelled the Medicaid application. She revised my Living Will, Durable Power of Attorney, Health Care Directive, established a Revocable Living Trust Agreement, and recorded a Quit Claim Deed. Eden put my estate in order and I gained a friend.
Eden has been our attorney since 1997 when my father passed away. Our immediate need was to assure that our developmentally disabled sister would be cared for. Eden reviewed the will and trust documents and guided us through the the process. It was complex as the documents had been created in another state, however he was now a WA resident.
Eden has guided us thru the process of making our own estate plan and documents. She keeps us current when there are changes in the laws and when our needs change.
We give Eden an "A+" for her knowledge of the law, her integrity, her patience and understanding.
She gave us the choice of meeting in our home, which was great, It was convenient for us as we could access all of the required documents and it was "comfortable"!
We are most fortunate to in the good hands of an exceptional attorney.
Ms. Toner serviced my request for creating a revocable trust in a very professional and timely manner. She was easy to communicate with and intuitive in addressing my needs. would highly recommend her services.
I contacted Ms. Toner to review my (lack of) estate planning documentation and to make recommendations complying with my wishes. After a couple of conversations, and online introductions
to my financial manager, we had several short clarifying conversations and she produced all documents needed (will, power of attorney for healthcare, healthcare directive, family trust documents). She then personally brought them to my office where we performed the signing. She was very professional, very experienced in these matters. I found the process to be enlightening and quite easy. Although most of her years of experience was with a large firm in Seattle, she now works out of her home, has low overhead, and her fees were extremely reasonable. Could not have been better served!
I HAVE recommended Eden Toner to a number of people and have invited her to speak to a group on the topic of Estate Planning. Why? Because she has all of the qualities that I find desirable in an attorney. She is highly professional and at the same time compassionate and caring. She explains things and completes tasks in a timely manner and while doing so keeps communication open and is very responsive. I found it very easy to talk with Ms. Toner. She is personable and communicates thoroughly....and with patience. I know that all of us consider our own issues to be of utmost importance and requiring instant attendance, while not be concerned that our attorney has other clients requiring the same attendance! Ms. Toner is able to relate to her clients in a way that makes you think you are her only concern. Ms. Toner handled the closing and probate for my mother's estate; I couldn't have asked for a more perfect person to work with at that difficult time. I trust her completely and I recommend her without reservation!
