Knowledgeable, trustworthy, and caring attorney who listens

Nobody wants to be involved in a possible legal battle, but events often occur in life that can’t be handled without professional advice.
We are involved in a boundary dispute, which is not a good way to meet your neighbors. Barry advised us that boundary disputes can be very costly litigation, and ultimately can create disharmony among neighbors that last for years. So once we collected all the facts and supporting documentation, such as surveys, legal descriptions, and property history, Barry reviewed the various options associated with these matters.
Barry not only has knowledge and experience in property issues, but he specifically understands waterfront boundary issues.
As we were discovering all the facts associated with our dispute, there was a lot of ongoing correspondence with our neighbors. Barry guided us through this correspondence, and we appreciated his willingness to accept our input. This made our responses to the other party’s correspondence always a letter that represented the best of the legal and our personal opinions.
Finally, we learned a lot through this process, and although it’s not over, we are still able to talk civilly to our neighbors and hope that the issue may be resolved without actual lawsuits and more expensive means.
It’s important to find an attorney who has experience in your legal area of concern and also in the local area involved. Barry has a long history in working with both King County and Pierce County, and most particularly in the Black Diamond, Maple Valley, Kent, and Covington areas.
Barry Kombol has done legal work for our family for over 30 years including estate planning and wills, guardianship, and property matters and always gives us his best. We have found him to be very honest and trustworthy.
Barry Kombol will go out of his way to do a good job for you.

    Diverse, knowledgable, conscientious

Mr. Kombol is a diverse, knowledgeable, conscientious attorney, who has handled my family's legal issues for a great many years. He has given me advice on many legal questions regarding wills, deeds, family matters, business. Taken me through the processes regarding my Rental properties. Explained exactly how things will progress and been with me in the courtroom when circumstances brought me to that point. Using his expertise, I know that my legal decisions are sound.

    Compassionate

Mr. Kombol was compassionate and showed respect to all of our family members during a difficult time over the loss of a family member. At a time where the family should have time to grieve, but instead chose to bicker over specific assets, Mr. Kombol was there to smooth the situation and make it bearable for all. He not only was our attorney, but negotiator and friend to everyone, which I'm sure at times was not easy.
Mr. Kombol was very knowledgeable in all the dealings that we went thru, worked with the opposing council to come to an agreement that was very fair for all. I would contact Mr. Kombol again without any hesitation.

Probate for my Aunt's will. Barry had all of the information he needed to complete the probate. I visited his office several times, made numerous calls to see how things were going all with no response, stopped by the office to see if I could get him to call but he was always "out of the office" or "busy". Finally after 2 years I went to another attorney who completed the process for me. Barry never called to apologize or explain his "non action". It was an awful experience and a terrible waste of time and money.

Barry Christopher Kombol’s response: “Annette has never been my client, nor have I ever failed to complete a Probate Proceeding for a relative or niece of a deceased person in the manner Annette suggests was the case for her and her Aunt's Estate. Simple Estate proceedings in Washington involve filing a Last Will and Testament in the Superior Court, getting the Executor or Executrix qualified to serve and assembling all Estate Property for distribution and once that is accomplished Closing the Estate. My staff is professional and we always strive to serve our clients in times of grief and sorrow resulting from a Death in the Family with the utmost of care, concern and professionalism. I suspect that Annette either failed to bring in the sort of documents required to commence a probate proceeding (Such as a Last Will and Testament) or was unable to furnish us with the names of her Aunt's other heirs. I do not recall any client by the name of Annette who sought assistance with her Aunt's Estate. While I regret that Annette was so angry with me as to make the comments contained in this rating, it is sometimes the case that former clients become so angry over an issue that arises after our attorney-client relationship ends that they seek to 'Punish' the former law firm that sought to assist him or her. Simple Estates in Washington typically involve about $500.00 in filing and publication fees and less than $3,000.00 in Legal Fees.”

    Great attorney and highly recommended!

We needed assistance with legal issues ranging from a home purchase to wills and Barry was extremely knowledgeable on all points. He is easy to talk to and understands the issues most families are facing. He responds quickly and his staff is helpful and very friendly as well. He was listed as an attorney who accepts the Hyatt Legal Services rates, so his work was very affordable. I highly recommend him and we will continue to use his services if needed in the future.

    What a disappointment

My mother, now deceased, had Barry Kombol do her will. I went to him for advice about her personal property. After one visit which was interrupted several times he billed my for 1.6 hours. I was there for a maximum of 1 hour. He made all his own photo copies for me, answered his incoming phone calls and stoked his fire. He gave me wrong information and when I called him back to tell him this he asked that I return to his office. We made an appointment. I got there 10 minutes early and he had clients in his office. He apologized and I ended up waiting a total of 70 minutes. This visit was for 30 minutes when he again made me photo copies of handwritten forms and took one phone call for about 5 minutes. For this I was billed for 1 hour.
When I received his bill for $670. I called and complained loudly. He had overcharged me 1 hour and 10 minutes. $250. an hour is just about $260. Not to mention when I was there not getting his full attention. Spelling names incorrectly and other errors. He out of courtesy (His words) refunded me $175.00.
