For fifteen years, I was a civil litigator and trial lawyer representing everyone from individuals and small business owners to McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co., Honda, Rite Aid Pharmacies, and other large corporations. For the past six years, I've limited my practice to mediation and arbitration, mainly of construction, employment, special education, and family disputes. I have received extensive training in several different styles of mediation, and I serve on the arbitration or mediation panels of numerous courts including the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Department of Education, the U.S. Postal Service, etc.
I'm a member of the Oregon Mediation Association, the Oregon Bar Association, and serve on the Board of the bar's Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") Section.
My fees are fairly flexible. I'll be honest: I'm very good at what I do, and I charge accordingly. But I also love what I do, and I'll bend over backward to make sure no one is denied the chance to mediate their dispute simply over cost. I love, love, love ADR -- I've simply seen it work, over and over, with much better results than lawsuits -- so as a "true believer" I'll do my best to make it available to those who can't afford my regular rates.
I'm based in Portland, but gladly travel, and am flexible about travel costs, as well.
