While I may not have grown up in Oregon, it is the state I will always call "home." I really fell in love with Oregon, and especially Portland, as soon as I came to visit for the first time. People are friendly, warm, and open to differences in Portland like nowhere else.
The other great thing about living in Portland is all of the outdoor activity opportunities. I love hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, snowboarding at Mt. Hood, walking around Hawthorne and Laurelhurst, and being able to drive out to the coast in about an hour. I also ran Hood to Coast last August, even though I have never considered myself a runner before. Great things happen when you live in such a great community.
