Ryan comes from a long tradition of practicing law. His grandfather was an attorney for over 40 years and his father was a trial attorney for 36 years.
During Ryan's undergraduate studies he played collegiate baseball at Oregon State University and at the University of Utah, where he was a "Team Captain" his senior year. At Oregon State University he was on the Academic Honor Roll and at the University of Utah he was twice awarded the Western Athletic Conference "Scholar Athlete Award" and "Academic All-Conference Athlete." After his college baseball career he spent one season at the University of Utah as the graduate assistant baseball coach and one season as an assistant coach.
He enrolled at the University of Oregon School of Law in 2001. After beginning law school he was offered a contract to play baseball in Germany, which he did for two years. He then returned to the University of Oregon where he completed his law school studies and was admitted to practice. Ryan spent the first five years of his legal career at an esteemed litigation firm in Medford, Oregon where he gained substantial experience and learned invaluable trial skills. He learned how to analyze complex cases from every perspective and he became a strong advocate to help achieve the best possible outcome for each case. Over the years he successfully handled hundreds of cases from the beginning all the way through jury trials.
Ryan began his own practice in Port Angeles in 2010 with the idea that he will focus primarily on personal injury and family law cases. He selects a limited number of cases so that he can continue to provide personalized representation for his clients. He strongly feels that each client should have direct access to their attorney.
Ryan is a firm believer in trying to resolve cases before litigation, but is willing to take cases to trial when the circumstances call for it.
Ryan is a member of the Washington State Bar, the Oregon State Bar and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. He is also on the Oregon New Lawyers Division Continuing Legal Education committee.
Ryan is a sports enthusiast who loves coaching baseball, running, fishing, and hiking. He likes to be outdoors as much as possible and feels fortunate that he is able to have a balance between spending time at work and spending time with family.
