Michael E. Lonich, managing partner of Lonich and Patton, LLP has nearly 30 years experience as a trial lawyer, beginning his career representing a wide range of businesses and individuals. His practice currently focuses on business matters, probate and estate planning. Michael serves as a mediator or arbitrator upon request, particularly in support of the firm’s family law practice. After many years as an advocate Michael recognizes the value of the collaborative effort in mediation or arbitration.
Michael leads the firms Business section and Estate Planning group. The firms Business section focuses on helping businesses meet the growing challenges of regulation, consumer and labor laws in operating their businesses. He is involved in all aspects, from corporate formation and governance to litigation.
The firm offers a full range of estate planning services for families and individuals including Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, special needs and medical directives or living wills. As with our business and family law departments, our estate planning groups provide litigation support when needed for probate and trust administration.
Born in San Rafael, California in 1954, Michael grew up in the Santa Clara Valley having moved here with his family in the early sixties as the Valley grew. Although leaving the Valley for college and law school Michael returned home to marry and raise a family. Along with his wife Lisa, Michael is raising three boys, Andrew, Ryan and Michael; together with the family hound, Crusader, they live in Saratoga where they are active in the community and their parish at Sacred Heart. Michael graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981.
Mr. Lonich is a member of the State Bar of California, the Association of Defense Counsel, Santa Clara Bar Association, serving on the temporary judge and arbitrator panels of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Mr. Lonich is admitted to practice before all California courts, including the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California.
