About Me

Cynthia's cultural sensitivity and collaborative approach to mediating, investigating, advising on and teaching about workplace issues flows
from her many years of professional experiences but also from years of 1) living
and working internationally, including four years in Asia; 2) serving
as a Board Member of socially responsible nonprofits; and 3) clerking
for respected Judges of the Supreme Court of California and the U.S.
    Court of Appeals.

Re conflict resolution: Cynthia has mediated more than 75 employment-related cases, settling
all of them in a one-day session. She also has resolved countless other
workplace conflicts without the need for litigation and has been an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.

Re workplace fact-finding: Cynthia has investigated hundreds of workplace matters as in-house counsel at Intel Corporation, as a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutclifee and as a third-party neutral with Remmers Global.  While at Intel, Cynthia managed teams of human resource investigators in the U.S. and Asia.

Re litigation advice:  Cynthia offers her diverse perspectives, analytical skill and deep
litigation experience to help in-house or outside trial counsel set
realistic outcome expectations and strategies.

Re workplace education:  As an adjunct to her conflict resolution, fact-finding and litigation
advice practice, Cynthia provides customized classes to employers and
individual employees. Typically Cynthia works closely with in-house
counsel, compliance and/or human resource professionals to deliver
specialized courses such as 1) investigation basics and advanced
techniques for internal investigators; 2) harassment prevention; and 3)
corporate code of conduct compliance.
