    A recreational bicyclist alleged that he was cut off by a driver who then proceeded to stop short to turn into her driveway. He suffered a broken ankle and alleged that he could not longer run or even walk without difficulty. The driver alleged that she had sufficient clearance and the bicyclist was speeding and following her too closely. The case was tried and the jury found that the driver was 95 percent at fault. It awarded the plaintiff over $209,000 in damages.

    A woman from Florida was just hired by a local bank was staying at a hotel in Marin. Three days after she started work she woke up to find her body covered with bed bugs that were feeding on her. She was left with hundreds of welts and suffered from a serious allergic reaction. Her injuries were compounded by an unsympathetic supervisor who fired her without offering her leave to recover. An action against the hotel and the bank was filed. The bank attempted to force the matter to arbitration; we defeated that attempt, taking the case to the California First District Court of Appeal. The parties then settled out of court.
