Daniel received his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law, host to one of the foremost legal writing programs in the country. While in law school he focused his attention on gaining hands on experience in matters of social justice. Among other things he served on the school's public interest board, actively participated in community legal services organization Legal Aid, and clerked for the Oregon Department of Justice's Consumer Protection and Financial Fraud unit, where he worked closely with staff attorneys to put a stop to predatory lending practices and fraudulent loan modification scams.
Daniel moved to San Francisco after law school, and has been actively involved in social justice legal work ever since. He served as a postgraduate fellow at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office where he worked on a wide range of felony criminal matters including drug possession, possession for sale, and argued and won motions for return of clients property against long serving San Francisco District Attorneys.
Daniel has successfully resolved dozens of cases on behalf of Bay Area tenants. He has a reputation for being a zealous advocate for tenant rights, and for getting results for his clients. He received his training through his work on behalf of tenants at San Francisco's Eviction Defense Collaborative, the San Francisco Bar Association, and Oakland's Eviction Defense Center. In 2012 Daniel was awarded the San Francisco Bar Association's Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award for his work with the Bar Association's Housing Negotiation Project.
Daniel shares office space in downtown San Francisco with the housing rights firm of Wartelle, Weaver and Schreiber, and longtime tenant's rights attorneys Paul Behrend, Jessica Alexandra and Jonathan McCurdy.
Daniel is originally from Seattle, Washington. In his free time he enjoys riding his bike around San Francisco, hiking and literature.

I have referred clients and friends alike to Daniel and intend to continue doing so. He is young, smart, energetic, and not afraid of a fight when one is necessary. What’s more, he does what he does for the right reasons: he represents ordinary people, people who normally do not have a voice in our legal system. If someone you know has a dispute with their landlord, Daniel should be the first person they call.
