For well over 10 years, my practice has focused on real estate, construction and business litigation. The variety of disputes I have handled over the years provides me with the depth and breadth of experience necessary to understand my clients’ objectives, and effectively advance their interests. I have been privileged to represent Fortune 100 and 500 companies, small businesses, as well as individuals. Since 2001, my practice has emphasized real estate and construction.
Selected acheivements include:
> Presented oral argument at First District Court of Appeal regarding (a) post-trial attorneys’ fee award, and (b) alleged power of termination over real property dedicated to public use.
> Represented small business in appeal of adverse labor board proceedings regarding bonus claim.
> Resolved complex dispute regarding joint redevelopment of shopping center property.
> Defeated petition for injunction to stop construction of project based on claimed parking cross-easements.
> Negotiated and resolved insurance coverage disputes with title insurance carriers, commercial general liability insurers, and construction sureties.
> Obtained dismissal of SLAPP suit, and resolved appeal of order as part of appellate mediation process.
> Represented private investment funds and affiliated mortgage broker in numerous disputes, including claims for financial abuse of an elder, judicial foreclosure suits, breach of fiduciary duty, and claim regarding sale of securities in violation of California and Federal regulations.
> Counsel to real estate brokerage in numerous disputes regarding the sale of real property.
> Settled $4.2 million mechanics lien claim against commercial developer, through solid law and motion practice, skillful negotiation, and persuasive communications.
> Resolved unfair competition claim against Fortune 500 construction materials supplier, following contentious litigation and use of discovery referee.
> Successfully defended mortgage brokers in numerous claims of breach of fiduciary duty, by effective use of pre-trial discovery and mediation.
> Obtained insurance coverage for homebuilder clients in disputes with insurance carriers.
> Developed course materials and co-presented all-day discovery seminar.
