About me

I do estate planning for those of us who aren't rich enough to worry about the estate tax, who need a will but can't spend a small fortune on it. I work out of my home in Mountain View and I do house calls. I'm passionate about outfitting as many Californians as I can with an estate plan that's customized to their circumstances and goals, which may include

  • designating inheritances and charitable gifts;

  • nominating a guardian for minor children;

  • appointing a trusted family member or friend to manage your finances;

  • minimizing probate costs and/or estate tax liability;

  • avoiding property tax reassessment on the family home;

  • planning for care and preventing asset depletion in the event of your incapacitation;

  • documenting your wishes for end-of-life health care decisions;

  • specifying funeral desires; and

  • providing for a disabled adult child after you're gone.

A single estate plan contains a combination of legal documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. My job is to develop a full understanding of your goals and customize an estate plan to accomplish those goals. (In contrast, do-it-yourself forms and online "trust mills" take a one-size-fits-all, fill-in-the-blank approach that is adequate for only a small percentage of people.)

A first consultation with me is always free. I use the same advanced legal drafting software that many prestigious firms use, but my solo practice's low overhead enables me to charge considerably less. The cost of your estate plan depends on your unique circumstances, but the most basic plan for an individual starts at $1,200 and for a married couple, $1,800.
