Kendall A VanConas

About Me

Kendall has devoted her practice to help families and individuals navigate the legally complex and often emotionally challenging areas of estate planning and elder law. A recognized expert in the specialized area of conservatorship law, Kendall’s clients find peace of mind through her attentive problem solving, and her sensitive understanding of the issues families face when dealing with a long-term illness. With thorough attention to detail, Kendall has represented clients in the administration of high value probate and trust estates, and worked with clients to plan estates in excess of $25 million.

Kendall has served as a Judge pro tem in the Ventura County Superior Court Probate Department for over 10 years, and also served as the trustee for her own family’s estates. These personal and professional experiences have enhanced her practice, enabling her to interpret the law from various viewpoints in order to eliminate roadblocks, and overcome challenges when they do occur.

Kendall graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1992. After a dozen years in practice, Kendall furthered her education and completed a 5-year night program to obtain her master’s degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University.

She is a Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law, as Certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, and in 2009 was awarded a rating of ‘AV’ by Martindale-Hubbell, the distinguished resource for attorney peer review information worldwide, denoting Kendall as Preeminent in her field.

Kendall’s parents were both attorneys who practiced in Ventura County. Admitted to the Bar in California in 1992, she practiced estate planning and family law with her mother for several years before limiting her practice to estate planning, probate and trust law. Emulating her parents’ involvement in the community, Kendall has been actively involved with the Ventura County Bar Association since the early years of her practice, serving on the Client Relations Committee for over 10 years, and on the Executive Committee of the Probate & Estate Planning section for several years (Chair, 2007 – 2009). In 2008, Kendall was selected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Ventura County Bar Association, and served as President in 2010. Kendall looks forward to taking her bar leadership skills to the state level.

Kendall has lived in Ventura County for most of her life, and is a 20-year resident of Ventura. She began her law practice with her family’s firm, Cohen and Cohen in Camarillo, and ran the firm as a sole practitioner for several years before joining A to Z Law as an associate attorney in 2003. Kendall became a partner with the firm in 2005, and a named partner in 2012.

Kendall lives in Ventura with her husband and two children. She and her family are active parishioners at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, and the parish school. In her free time, Kendall enjoys traveling, cooking and entertaining.
