About Me

Gregory J. Ramirez is a civil litigation attorney, with substantial trial experience. His practice focuses on business and complex litigation, class action matters, personal injury and wrongful death. Mr. Ramirez was nominated to, and voted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an organization of veteran trial lawyers who promote the jury system and civility in the legal profession. He is currently the Vice-President of the California Coast Chapter of ABOTA, which is comprised of attorneys and judges from three counties – Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. Mr. Ramirez will become the Chapter President in January 2013.

Mr. Ramirez is an active member in the local community, having served on a number of boards and committees and has held many leadership positions. Mr. Ramirez is an active member of the Oxnard Ambassadors, which strives to build relationships between the local military bases and local Ventura County businesses. He was elected to the position of, and served as, Consul General of the Ambassadors in 2010. Because of his local support of our men and women in service, Mr. Ramirez was selected this year to attend the Air Force Military War College in Montgomery, Alabama in May 2012.

Mr. Ramirez has served on the City of San Buenaventura Planning Commission since 2006, and is currently the Chairman of the Planning Commission.

Mr. Ramirez was born and raised in Ventura, where he still resides. Mr. Ramirez went to local schools, attending Saint Bonaventure High School and Ventura College. Mr. Ramirez graduated from the University of Southern California and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance in 1981. After graduation, Mr. Ramirez attended an honors program at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England, where he studied International Economics. Mr. Ramirez obtained his real estate agent's license in 1981 with Merrill Lynch Realty, and worked as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith in Ventura County from 1982 until he started law school in 1987. Mr. Ramirez attended law school at the University of California, Los Angeles, and received his Juris Doctorate in 1990. During law school, Mr. Ramirez worked as a judicial extern for Justice Arthur Gilbert of the local Court of Appeal in Ventura for one semester. He also clerked with the State of California Attorney General’s Office in Los Angeles, assisting with filing and prosecuting crimes involving consumer fraud. Upon completing law school, Mr. Ramirez immediately started working with a Ventura County law firm, where he was made a partner in 1996.
