I attended UCLA, making the Dean’s List among other scholastic honors, and graduated cum laude in 1984 with a B.A. in Political Science. I then went to U.C. Hastings College of the Law, graduating in June of 1987 and was admitted to practice law in California in December of that year. At Hastings, I was president of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and an active member of the Associated Students. I am also admitted to practice before all the United States District courts in California, and a member of the Riverside County Bar Association, the and the Consumers Attorneys of California.
After about 19 years working in personal injury and employment litigation, primarily for the defense, I joined up with my long-time friend and colleague, John Tiedt to form Tiedt & Hurd in February 2007. Our practice emphasizes serious personal injury cases and employment matters.
I am married with two children, and have been active in Little League Baseball, the YMCA Indian Guides program and local youth soccer.

I’ve known Mark for about 20 years. He’s an outstanding lawyer with a ton of talent and many years of experience. That’s exactly what you want when your legal rights are in jeopardy. You need someone like Mark who’s been there and done that. A lawyer who will roll up his sleeves and put his years of experience hard to work on your behalf. Mark’s a straight shooter and an attorney I can comfortably refer my clients to. Give Mark a call. You’ll be glad that you did! I served as mediator in a matter in which Mr. Hurd represented the plaintiff. He did a superb job in all respects. His pre-mediation submission was well-researched and well-written, and slanted just enough in his client's direction that he communicated his arguments without losing credibility. In person, he was the same--straightforward, with experience and expertise, and a zealous advocate for his client. While steadfastly supporting his client thru the mediation, Mr. Hurd nonetheless remained objective the whole time, so that he could effectively counsel his client in response to new information that was learned in the course of the mediation. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Hurd's work to others seeking employment counsel.
