I do not know what situation you may be in. But, I want to tell you that God does have a plan for you, and that it is a good plan, because He is a good god. You may be going through financial difficulties, and feel trapped in a hopeless situation with no way to escape. In that case, I am here to help. Bankruptcy is not always the option people should first turn to in a given financial crisis. However, often times it is the best, and even the only, way to start anew.
One of the things I’ve learned in my time working in bankruptcy law is that people generally want to “do the right thing.” Often, this makes them think that filing for bankruptcy and not paying back their debts is a shameful act. If you are one of these people, let me share with you the following:
“In addition, you must count off seven Sabbath years, seven sets of seven years, adding up to forty-nine years in all. 9 Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year, blow the ram’s horn loud and long throughout the land. 10 Set this year apart as holy, a time to proclaim freedom throughout the land for all who live there. It will be a jubilee year for you, when each of you may return to the land that belonged to your ancestors and return to your own clan. 11 This fiftieth year will be a jubilee for you. During that year you must not plant your fields or store away any of the crops that grow on their own, and don’t gather the grapes from your unpruned vines. 12 It will be a jubilee year for you, and you must keep it holy. But you may eat whatever the land produces on its own. 13 In the Year of Jubilee each of you may return to the land that belonged to your ancestors.
Leviticus 25:8-13
In the year of Jubilee, slaves were set free, lands were restored to their original owners, and families were reunited. It was a time of restoration. It was a time of freedom. It was a time of joy. It was part of a system God Himself had put in place, so that His people would be set free from the bondage of debt, and would not be oppressed indefinitely. And this is what we must not forget. We are His people. And God is our Father, who loves us, and wants to give us the best. He is a god who restores, not oppresses. He is a god who forgives, not punishes.
We are all called to be good stewards of all the things He gives us to be in charge of during our time here on earth. Our finances are one of those things. But there are so many more things we are stewards of than just our finances. We are stewards of His daughters and sons, which He gave to us as our husband or wives or children. We are stewards of our works we do in serving His kingdom. We are stewards of our experiences, memories, and testimonies, which we must use to encourage and bless others. We are stewards of our health, friendships, church, and so many more things.
You are more than just how much money you have in your bank account.
I wouldn’t know enough to say, if you’re in a difficult financial situation and considering filing for bankruptcy, whether doing so is the best solution for your situation. What I do know with absolute certainty, however, is that you are His beloved child, and He wishes to restore you, always.
And if bankruptcy is the best way, I want to help you.
