About Me 

Doug Carasso is an associate at Bisnar | Chase in Newport Beach, where his practice concentrates on mass torts, product liability, and catastrophic personal injury. AV Rated in Martindale‑Hubbell, Mr. Carasso has since 2009 been named by the Orange County Register’s OC Metro Magazine as one of OrangeCounty's Top Lawyers.  He is an experienced plaintiff trial lawyer who practiced for seven years at Shernoff Bidart & Echeverria & Bentley on behalf of victims of catastrophic personal injury and insurance company bad faith, and for eight years thereafter at Callahan & Blaine on behalf of catastrophic personal injury victims and in labor and employment class actions against media giants. 

Mr. Carasso has authored numerous published articles on various legal topics that include recovering punitive damages, business‑interruption coverage following the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, how to defeat defendant motions for summary judgment, MICRA, how to take depositions, how to defend a plaintiff’s deposition, liability in drunk‑driving accidents, and how to recover for negligent infliction of emotional distress. These articles have appeared in various publications including the Los Angeles Daily Journal, New York Law Journal, Consumer Attorneys of California=s Forum, The Advocate Magazine, Orange County Lawyer, and The Trial Lawyer. 

He has been a featured speaker on diverse litigation topics including Depositions (Orange County Bar Association), Torts (ChapmanLawSchool), Insurance Bad Faith (Lexis/Nexis and Mealey=s), Punitive Damages (Orange County Bar Association), and The Art of Legal Writing in California (Lorman Education Services). 

A New York City native, Mr. Carasso received his J.D. from USC  LawSchool, where he provided pro bono representation in a criminal appeal proceeding at Lompoc Prison. Before that, he graduated magna cum laude and phi beta kappa from UCLA in 1987 as a Classics Department Scholar, Golden Key National Honor Society member, and film critic and interviewer for The Daily Bruin.
