Ms. McElfresh is the founding attorney at the San Diego criminal defense firm, the Law Office of Jessica C. McElfresh. Attorney McElfresh grew up in San Diego County, and earned her Bachelor’s degree summa cum laude with an honors degree in Spanish Literature from Scripps College. After this, she went on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she was on a Dean’s Honor Scholarship. While Ms. EcElfresh attended law school, she was an intern at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, where she specialized in search and seizure motions. After graduating from USD, Attorney McElfresh began working in the fields of immigration, criminal defense, and marijuana law and policy. During this time, she taught educational programs for other lawyers and authored model ordinances and ballot initiaties to regulate dispensaries. Currently, Ms. McElfresh serves as the Community Director for the San Diego Chapter of the NORML Women’s Alliance, and speaks regularly at events that focus on drug reform and narcotics laws. Due to her profiency in medical marijuana law, criminal defense, and policy making, she has been interviewed by numerous publications and news organizations. In addition, she has been sought out for her legal counsel from media outlets including the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union-Tribune, NBC, and KPBS.
