I was dealing with a complaint against me from the Department of Health and Services. At the same time a pending investigation from the Department of Consumer Affairs. I had a good friend of mine who referred me to Atty. David Shapiro. The first time I met David was in his law office. I was very impressed with him the way he approached me. He was very professional, prim and proper, polite, courteous and down to earth person. At that very moment I felt comfortable, safe and secured with him as my legal counsel. David is a positive person. He is very sincere, committed and dedicated to his clients. Very knowledgeable and highly skilled lawyer. He deals with his clients not only pure business but with affection and concern. The thing that I admired him so much is that every time I tried to get hold of him for any questions or clarifications he always responds to me on time or if he is busy for sure I get a word from him at the end of the day. Every penny you pay is worth it and he really works hard for it. He is an EXCELLENT and SUPERB Defense Criminal Lawyer. If only there is more than 5 stars that I could give him as my rating I will. You did an exceptional job. I highly recommend David Shapiro if you need legal assistance. I could assure and guarantee you that you will never regret. Thank you very much David.
I want to express my great appreciation for David Shapiro's tremendous expertise in representing our family during a recent legal matter. He patiently guided our family step-by-step through the complicated court process, he always returned our calls or emails promptly and gave us realistic expectations while remaining positive. His professionalism and caring and prompt attention to our needs during this difficult time is why I will recommend him to anyone requiring his services and will most certainly hire him again if the need arises.
I was in a jam and Googled lawyers, I ended up on AVVO and called a couple of lawyers, I had to leave a message for most and as expected most either didn't call back or acted like it was a hassle to deal with me. I met with David the office manager who gave me a run down of what was expected. I paid in full for a set price for my DV case and am happy I went with Shapiro. While I am irritated that my case didn't get dismissed, Shapiro did the best he could to make sure I had a no negative order instead of the full restraining order. This is great, if you know what the difference is and have a family. Hearing other people say they weren't given a no negative made me realize the I chose the right lawyer.
I would definitely recommend Shapiro as your criminal defense.
Mr. Shapiro represented my minor son in a felony DUI. He was always accessible, patient, courteous and prompt to respond with all our emails, calls and questions. He was consistently professional and helped us through every step of a very stressful and confusing time. He knows the law and was a priceless asset in the court room. You want him on your side and is well worth his assigned fees.
Mr. Shapiro is a very experienced professional who is extremely knowledgeable about criminal law. The way he carries himself both inside and outside of the courtroom is second to none! I was in a helpless position and had been taken advantage of by a previous lawyer. Mr. Shapiro helped me get my family back as well as make sure I was doing everything I needed to do in order to stay out of jail. He is very detail oriented and made sure I was well informed every step of the way. I truly believe that if it wasn't for him I would not be sitting here with my family today.
After an unfortunate interaction with local law enforcement (my first in 50 years), I was referred to Mr. Shapiro. I interviewed several other defense lawyers and quickly settled on Mr. Shapiro, for 3 reasons: 1) He spends most of his days in the courtroom, and is intimately familiar with the process. 2) He immediately developed a strategy to have the charge effectively dismissed. 3) His fees are reasonable and stated upfront.
Mr. Shapiro is a tenacious fighter for his clients. He thinks fast, talks fast, is very honest in his assessment, and vaguely resembles actor John Turturro. I found him to be honest in his business affairs, strategic in his methods, and very effective in resolving legal situations at the earliest possible stage. He is well supported by his staff (David M.), who explained the legal process to me, and patiently answered all of my questions.
Mr. Shapiro was successful in his efforts to ensure that no charges filed, and I began to sleep again. I hope I never need his services again, but I will always keep his number.
I am a 40 y.o. male computer engineer in San Diego. I made an unfortunate mistake that was discovered and charges filed. I was very worried that my career would be over, not to mention even more severe consequences. I chose David Shapiro based on reading his Avvo reviews and I had a very positive experience with him. David understands all intricacies of the law and knows how to use them defending his clients. When I first met him, he gave me an expected outline of how the events will unfold and what the timeline would be. His prediction was very close to what happened. He did not sugar coat any scenarios and gave me a precise picture of best/worst case scenarios.
To assure a better defense Mr. Shapiro told me exactly what I should do and what information to collect to explain my circumstances. When additional charges were filed against me unexpectedly, he adjusted the strategy, and this new strategy still fell into the original time frame. As a result, I ended up proactively doing several hours of community service and counseling and got cleared of all charges after David presented my case to the City Attorney. The outcome was very close to the original best case scenario. My overall experience with David Shapiro exceeded expectations and I am very grateful to him. I should mention that his assistant (David M.) who handled the in-take of my case was very comforting. David Shapiro however is a fighter, not a hand-holder. But that's what you want for the final result.
David P. Shapiro expertly handled our case with a level of professionalism that is hard to find. We needed an attorney that understood people, the law, and would help us get through the legal system in San Diego County. Most importantly, I wanted an attorney that would actually do the hard work of representing us in a very difficult situation. Backed up by a top-notch office and investigative staff, Mr. Shapiro delivered. David turned out to be the absolute right choice, a decision we did not regret. Highly recommended.
I have had some legal run ins in the past and was charged with being under the influence. To be honest I was very scared and thought that I might be in some serious trouble. From the very first moment I contacted Mr. Shapiro I was put at ease for my case. Initially i did have to plea to a conviction but within a month Mr Shapiro got the conviction and all accompanying issues such as fines, 4th waiver, and probation dismissed!! I would recommend Mr Shapiro to anyone that has a criminal legal issue. He is extremely knowledgeable about all possible outcomes and returned all phone calls and emails promptly and I never had any fear or did I have to wait for such a fantastic outcome to my case. Thank you Mr Shapiro!!
Attorney Shapiro is skilled in his profession. He is a competent attorney and I believe he worked hard for the best outcome in my case(s). If, however, you are charged with a first time and are nearly as scared as I was, he may not be the best fit. Although he is a great attorney, I did not find him to be very compassionate - I was in a frenzy (how would this impact my employment? when can I clear up my record? etc.). I found him to be rather impatient with me and am not convinced that he was really concerned about me. Perhaps this was just a personality issue. Despite this, he is a great attorney, a nice guy and he will go to bat for you.
