About Me

Laura Crane is an award winning trial lawyer who represents public entities, business organizations and individuals in a broad range of real estate and business related litigation. In 2013, Super Lawyers named her a Southern California Rising Star for government law among the top 2.5 percent of lawyers in the region 40-years-old or younger or practicing law for 10 years or less.

Laura’s real estate litigation experience includes development related litigation, land use issues, inverse condemnation, landlord/tenant disputes, dangerous condition allegations, and title disputes. She also helps clients with business litigation matters such as breach of contract, trade secrets and unfair competition disputes. Some of her successes include the following:

  • Multiple evictions of commercial tenants on behalf of public and private clients for a variety of reasons including failing to pay rent or to procure appropriate insurance coverage.

  • Defeated, at the earliest possible litigation stage, a junior lienholder’s attempts in both state and federal courts to rescind a lender’s acquisition of property through foreclosure because the junior lienholder believed the loan was usurious.

  • Resolved a title dispute regarding subdivided property encumbered by deeds of trust secured by parcels that no longer existed due to a lot line adjustment. The resolution resulted in the lender being able to acquire title to the property without violating the Subdivision Map Act.

  • Obtained favorable resolution for an ex-employee alleged to have stolen customer lists and trade secrets.

  • Obtained a judgment in favor of a bankruptcy trustee to avoid the transfer of real property despite the grant deed being dated multiple years before the bankruptcy filing.

  • Obtained preliminary injunctions prohibiting the operation of five separate marijuana dispensaries after extensive oral argument against multiple opposing counsels.

  • Prevented the disclosure of police officer employment records.

  • Avoided the return of deadly weapons taken during Welfare and Institutions Code section 5150 detentions.

  • Part of a team of lawyers that successfully avoided a public agency’s attempt to recoup $102 million paid to a developer as part of a settlement that was alleged to be the result of one of the largest corruption cases in California.

Laura is a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire where she continues to reside with her husband and children.
