I went through 2 attorneys before I could find someone who actually faught for me and my kids. He got me custody of my kids, a good support order and an order for kid's dad to pay for my attorney fees. He is the best as far as I'm concerned and his staff was great to work with as well.

I consulted with several attorneys and no gave me the information he provided at our first meeting. He made me feel comfortable and not that I had to dish out money for the information I was seeking. I hired him as his fees were reasonable and he was flexible with payments. His staff was just as knowledgable as he was and very helpful, which made the process easy for me.

Mr. Garcia is an excellent attorney. He fought hard for me and got me everything I wanted, including an attorney fee award of $7,500. That means, my ex had to pay for my attorney's fees. My ex was not too happy about that and is probably one of the bad reviewers on AVVO. I absolutely recommend him and would always return. His fees are reasonable for what you are getting!

Although responses were not as quick as I would have liked (due to him being in court often) he made sure we were both updated on the case when it came time. He went above and beyond obtaining me a video chat, due to my situation out of state. He was well prepared in court and was even praised on his exhibit layout by the serving judge. I felt comfortable and completely at ease working together and would highly recommend him for child custody cases.

My ex hired this attorney and when I called to request for them to email me the moving papers his staff was very unprofessional and kept giving me the run around. I never received an email. I can only imagine how he works, due to his staff's unprofessionalism it only reflects on him and speak on his behalf! I started researching all his reviews and found out he has had two different disciplinary actions by the licensing authorities. That right there tells me he's not trustworthy!

Exceptional attorney. Always available and his rates are reasonable. He sets appoints, answers all questions whether I like the answer or not, he tells me how it is. He's aggresive in the court.

He was a terrible lawyer and not knowledgeable at all! He was always trying to concoct schemes that I wanted no part of. He did nothing for me legally. After I terminated him, He refused to be terminated, than sent me another outrageous bill for services he never provided. I would never recommend him to anyone. He never even disclosed to me that he was a criminal lawyer, not a 300 lawyer. He was terribly unprofessional as well as his office staff!

I wish there were a box for HELL NO in recommendations. Bottom line is this guy overcharges and will claim it was an error. If you take a look at his incompetent staff, you might believe him. But on too many occassions he would bill me for a whole day in court even though his staff would call to continue the matter.

Plain and simple, attorney initially quoted $2000 + filing fees, after I got served it went to $3000 + filing fees. I was informed that if we do not have to go to any additional court appearances we should not exceed that amount. First invoice from attorney was for $5400+. Attorney did not go over fees with me and did not inform me of two $1500 lump sum charges plus his hourly rates to start off with. Attorney did not respond to summons within the alotted time which could have cost me the case but fortunately my ex and I get along. Based on my reasearch, the attorney voilated several Rules of Professional Conduct and when I approached him with these violations he requested I sign a substitute of attorney, which is another violation. I terminated his services and filed a complaint with the Ca. State Bar and the Better Business Bureau. This is a simple divorce because custody had already been agreed upon and we are in severe debt so there is no assets to fight over and as I said before, the ex and I get along. I don't feel that half of a simple divorce should cost over $5400 for less than 10 hrs. of work. The attorney did not respond to the Better Business Bureau complaint and the State Bar complaint is still in the process.

I'm being generous giving a one star rating! Point # 1-Issued a check for $300.00 for consultation. I left "PAY TO THE ORDER" BLANK. Mr. Garcia made this check payable to HIMSELF, I WONDER WHAT HIS MOTIVE WAS FOR DOING THIS, then proceeds to cash it at his bank branch. So, when I receive his statement it states "NO CHARGE" for consultation. Point being I DID NOT get CREDIT for this $300.00.
Point #2. When I realized I could do on my own what he was charging me $395.00 per hour for, I decided to let him go. I sent his firm a directive requesting a retainer refund, So, what does Mr Garcia do? Responds to my request with a "SALES PITCH", wanting to keep my retainer for FUTURE USE, sure thing Mr Garcia! As well as bill me $138.50 for reviewing my letter to refund my retainer, oh the arrogance!
Point #3 The work that this firm did do for me was minimal,(ALMOST $2,000) for a couple of fax's, a call or two, my favorite is "review documents" $592.50, seriously now. When I ask Mr Garcia what he learned from his "reviewing", he requested another $500.00 to explain this to me.The documents that were prepared by this firm appeared as if they were done by manual typewriter, numerous errors, typos and so on....Mistakes were made by misplacement of decimal points, opps! on and on.......
My only recommendations are #1 DO NOT LEAVE ANY BLANK SPACES ON YOUR CHECK. DO YOUR RESEARCH & HOMEWORK before hiring this firm. OR better yet CALL ME AT [phone number removed]. I would hate to see another person taken advantage of by this firm.
