About me

I was born and raised in Philadelphia where I developed the love of arguing!  I knew before I even got to high school that I wanted to be an attorney.  I began my journey to becoming a lawyer at Northeastern University in Boston, where I majored in history and political science.

After college, I studied law in New York City at Fordham University School of Law.  Though I loved NYC, I returned to Philadelphia and initially worked at Safeguard Scientifics, a dynamic company that was the only publicly traded venture capital firm at the time.  However, I did not find corporate securities and finance very interesting, so I made a sharp career turn and joined the Public Defender's Office.  As an assistant public defender, I got my first taste of trial work and loved it.

Though I am a proud Philadelphian (and still a die hard Eagles fan), I fled the snow and the ice and moved to Florida in 1998.  I took a position with the public defender again, where I continued to hone my trial skills as one of the most active trial attorneys in the office during my tenure.

After two years of consistently trying cases, I took my experience and moved to civil practice.  I initially worked at an insurance defense firm, but I quickly realized that assisting insurance companies in denying or minimizing benefits to be paid to people was not for me.  I left after only nine months and joined the largest consumer protection law firm in the country, Morgan, Colling & Gilbert (now Morgan & Morgan) in Orlando, Florida.

While at Morgan & Morgan, I handled thousands of cases against insurance companies and large corporations on behalf of injured and aggrieved clients.  I was at the forefront of the firm's effort to assist homeowners whose houses were damaged or destroyed by the rash of hurricanes that struck Florida in 2004 (three of which hit Orlando).  After enduring the wrath of mother nature, these clients had to endure the wrongful denial of benefits needed to fix their homes.  Though at times overwhelming, representing these clients was amongst my proudest moments as an attorney.

In addition to litigating against insurance companies for wrongful denials of benefits, I also handled personal injury claims from auto accidents and premises liabiltiy to nursing home abuse and toxic tort litigation.  Many of these cases were against large corporations who vigourously fought our clients' claims, despite the obvious merit.  One such case took nearly six years and two appeals before finally resolving.  These experiences showed me the lengths that some companies will go to deny victims of their conduct and the importance of having attorneys that will hold these companies accountable.

Though I enjoyed living in Florida and working at Morgan & Morgan, after nine years in the sunshine state I decided I could not spend the rest of my life in Orlando and fulfilled a life long dream of moving to California, which I did in 2007.  Though this was a frightening decision in many ways, and potentially very disruptive to my career, I felt it was something I must do or I would regret it forever.

Since relocating to California, I have continued to represent individuals in personal injury and insurance dispute matters as well as consumer protection lawsuits under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  My practice includes both state and federal court and I am still an active member of the Pennsylvania, New York and Florida bars as well as federal district courts in all of those states and California.
