"And for that reason, the Plaintiff's counsel, for that and other reasons, is to be rewarded, certainly applauded. You did a magnificent job for the class." -- Hon. Charles R. Breyer, United States District Judge, January 9, 2009, Case No. 3:06-cv-07496-CRB.
Mr. Moore is a named partner with Spiro Moore. He has spent his career litigating class actions and other complex matters. He joined the firm in March 2006, after spending most of his career as an associate, and then a partner, at a Los Angeles-based, national law firm where he defended major insurance companies in class actions and unfair business practice cases involving insurance claims practices, wage and hour claims and securities claims in California and other states. Mr. Moore greatly prefers his present role as an advocate for consumers and employees.
At present, Mr. Moore is litigating class actions against numerous companies alleged to have engaged in consumer fraud or other unlawful conduct, including Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., Bear Stearns Residential Mortgage Co., Toyota, JP Morgan Chase, and Coldwell Banker. Since he switched from representing corporate defendants to consumers in 2006, Mr. Moore has handled cases that have resulted in settlements worth many millions of dollars to his clients and class members. His views regarding class action matters have been published by media outlets including the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Daily Journal. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and an active member of its amicus group. Mr. Moore is admitted to practice in all federal courts in California and has practiced on a pro hac vice basis in a number of other states.
Mr. Moore is also developing a qui tam ("whistleblower") practice. Qui tam cases allow whistleblowers with knowledge of fraudulent and false claims for payment in connection with government contracts to sue on behalf of the state or federal government, and to recover a substantial share of the monies recovered by the government in the case.
